Nascar Predictions for 08?

Hey all you nascar fans, let's hear your predictions for this upcoming NASCAR season.

I personally believe Hendrick is going to own the field race in and race out, im not the biggest junior fan but i think he will win the "Sprint Cup". Gordon will finish high in the top 10, maybe 3rd or 4th but wont have a heartbreaking season like last one. Jimmie Johnson hopefully wont make the chase and casey mears will be 12th. Im expecting Jr to win the cup only because of his new ride and resources but hoping Bowyer gets it. If Bowyer dont get it i think itll be a very close 2nd place finish .

JGR is going to fall on its face running toyotas and will have several in-team conflicts through out the season starting at daytona between denny hamlin and kyle busch.

What are your guys' predictions?

oh btw id be willing to participate in the fantasy league again this year. I kicked *** the 2nd segment and was flatout owning you guys in the 3rd but had to relinquish my account for that league due to my other one (my main one) was tied for 2nd in the entire stockcar challenge and having 2 accounts is against the rules so i didnt want to have to give up prizes if i won anything...

I predict that I will continue root for Ford and continue to hate on everybody else.

Matt the Brat, Cousin Carl, or The Biff will take the cup back for Ford.

1. People are going to be shocked at how well the Toyota teams do. Especially Gibbs and Waltrip. Gibbs won't miss a beat if what I have heard the last month or so about the Toyota engine program is correct.

2. The open wheel guys will continue to struggle, especially Hornish. If Juan Pablo doesn't start showing some respect to people, he is going to have a rough year. Maybe Erin Crocker rough.

3. Over/under on total # of fits drivers for Gibbs throw. 7

4. A Hendrick car will win Daytona. Having Jeff and Jr on the same restrictor plate team should be very scary for the rest of the field.

5. Kasey Kahne will have a bounce back season.

6. Little Bush will struggle with continuing to allow his lack of maturity to override his talent.

7. Hamlin will continue to show he struggles with the concept of teamwork.

8. There will be a ton of fallout over the flipping of Kurt Busch's point to Sam Hornish, as Hornish will struggle to find speed the first few weeks, and still make the field at the expense of some much faster cars, including several Toyotas.

9. The TV cameras will spend a TON of time in Dario's pit each week, and we will see his wife interviewed on camera at least once a race.

10. Gordon will finally win his fifth title.

Gip - what have you heard about JGR's engine program? I'm curious & hopefull.

Hopefully Jr. will blow up on the first lap of the 500 and struggle all year.

Kyle Bush will hopefully get some life lessons from Joe & J.D. Gibbs. If he could settle down just a tad he'd be a threat every week. That still doesn't mean I'll root for him though.

Toyota will step it up this year. With allowing JGR to build thier own motors (Toyota has not allowed any team to build their own motors until JGR) they'll finally get into victory lane.

Predictions for 08... Carl Edwards is going to do a back flip, Jeff Gordon is whine and complain, a lot of Earhardt fans will change their tattoos, and **** Trickle is going to debut the new Penicillin car!

Truthfully I wish they ran more road courses.

Although nothing official, and very little through the media, a couple of guys invloved in the motor shop seem to think they are to the point now that they will see very little if any drop off from the Chevy motors.

Don't hold your breath waiting for that to happen. The only way Jr blows up at Daytona will be if Rick has another engine issue and loses all his motors.. and the chance of that happening again is about 800 trillion to 1

I will be suprised if he does. Rick is another one that does a great job of mentoring people, and he continually struggled with Kyle, who has a tendancy to show a lack of respect in his actions.

I don't know the Gibbs, so I am not sure how well they will deal with that if it continues.

I think this will end up being a very leathal combination of $$, engineering talent, and race knowledge talent. Toyota has some great people working for them, and Gibb's motor shop is pretty salty themselves. From what I am hearing so far .. both sides are very pleased.

What most people fail to understand ios that the motor is the key with the Toyotas .. now that all the chasis are the same, the only difference is the motors .. Where I think you will see Gibbs (and the other Toyota teams) Struggle this year will be in fuel economy races. I think they are sacrificing a little economy to get the mid band power where they needed it.

Thanks Gip. I haven't heard anything about it.

Gibbs has a very good engine program, but they've never been known for fuel mileage.

I predict the good ole boys club will continue to hate the open wheel drivers, and often after finishing behind them.
