I think there might be an issue with all the F150 links ...

It appears this test is only based on the number of people who come online to complain. Internet polls such as this hold little water, even though they support something I already knew

I agree this doesn't in anyway prove the chevy is worse than ford. However, to me, it surely does prove at least that more people got pissed and searched for a place to rant about it.

I guess I find it ironic that it seems more people came to complain about the chevy than the ford. I guess we could argue more chevy owners knew about the website than ford owners. Maybe even ford owners connections won't let them access the complaint website. Or maybe only chevy owners come online to complain. I don't know, it's an epic debate.

As for the links, I did a lot of copy paste. I forgot to edit the ford link. However, like you posted, I quickly edited the links after posting within a minute or two.. or three. Haha.

Yeah I must say it was quite a landslide victory. I too was a bit shocked to find that so few Ford owners had launched a complaint. I wonder if this site was linked to GM forums of some kind at one point

Well I thought, maybe there was a possibility this website is biased. However, it does have every vehicle listed (mostly anyway), meaning it doesn't seem to meet the criteria for your typical ford vs. chevy site with a fanboy at the keyboard. So I thought, I'll pick three years, 2001, 2003, 2005 and see which year had the most recalls for what vehicle. I did it on the ODI official goverment website.

I know this isn't every recall. It was investigated recalls from customer complaints. Meaning the manufacturer failed to confirm, mention, or did not know of the recall (yeah right).

http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov

I am seeing a pattern here. Do you?

Total recalls: 40
Ford: 08
Chevy: 32
Difference: 24

For 2001

Ford: 2 recalls.
Exterior headlights
Fuel system

Chevy:9 recalls
Engine and engine cooling
Equipment
Equipment;Electrical
Exterior lighting
Exterior lighting; headlights
Parking brake
Service brakes; hydraulic: antilock
STRUCTURE:BODY:TAILGATE:HINGE AND ATTACHMENTS
Wheels cap cover hub

Total recalls:11

For 2003

Ford: 2 recalls
Fuel system
Vehicle speed control

Chevy: 11 recalls
Equipment
Equitpment;Electrical
Exterior lighting
Exterior lighting; headlights
Parking brake
Seat belts:front: anchorage
Seat belts; rear
Service brakes; hydraulic
STRUCTURE:BODY:TAILGATE:HINGE AND ATTACHMENTS
Wheels cap cover hub
Visibility;windshield

Total: 13

For 2005

Ford: 4 recalls
Exterior lighting; headlights
Fuel system
Interior lighting
Tires tread/belt

Chevy: 12 recalls
Engine and engine cooling
Equitpment;Electrical
Exterior lighting
Exterior lighting; headlights
FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINEELIVERY:HOSES, LINES/PIPING, AND FITTINGS
Parking brake
POWER TRAIN:MANUAL TRANSMISSION:SHIFT PATTERN INDICATOR
Seat belts; rear
Service brakes; hydraulic
Steering gear box shaft sector
Wheels cap cover hub
STEERING:HYDRAULIC POWER ASSIST:HOSE, PIPING, AND CONNECTIONS

Total: 16

I think crap like tires shouldnt be faulted on a company.

Yeah, seems chevy stays crappy, and ford added a few. I consider it only three because tires are lame. I mean, c'mon. I'd even give chevy that benefit.

Just for fun I did dodge.

2005: 2 recalls
2003: 4 recalls
2001: 12 recalls

Sadly, dodge seems to beat chevy.

Yeah IMO recalls are a decent way to determine reliability. I always knew Chevy sucked, but suprised how many more problems they are having. Wonder what the numbers are on the yota

Fords suck! We are getting our butts handed to us by Chevy in the number of recalls.

Oh wait....
