Like A Rock My A**!

Ok guy's I just gotta vent a little bit here! Where I live it's CHEBBY country. My dad and I are a select few that are proud to say that we are proud to drive FORD's. At my work one of my friends and I are the only two people that drives a Ford both F150's. Before I purchased my current truck I had a 99 Ranger 3.0 4x4 that was highly abused by the previous owner but was still a gret looking truck on the outside. Well all of the Chevy guy's would talk crap cause my truck with 125,000 miles needed a water pump and alternator within the first year I had it but still it had 125,000 miles and now that I got my F150 it's the same ol crap I haven't had any problems with 150 yet but they gotta brag talking about how tough their trucks are compared to mine. But yet when you talk to them about how reliable their trucks are they go on with a list longer than Santa's wish list! My dad has a 99 F150 4x2 4.2V6 with a manual tranny that I drove when I was in high school and until I got my Ranger. I have outran Z71's and alot of other Chevy V8's and the V6 was stock. All the abuse I put on that truck my dad has only had to do routine maintenance and replace a sensor and he still currently has that truck running strong at 140,000 miles! My friend has an 01 Fl150 4.6 V8 4x4 he abuses the hell out of his truck mud rides every weekend no kidding drives it with the pedal to floor 80% of the time and all he has had to replace was the rear end and the timing chain tensioner and he's at 130,000 miles. He bought that truck in 2006 at 55,000 miles yes he has put over 70,000 miles on his truck in one year! Yet a guy I work with bought a 05 Chevy Z71 5.3 V8 brand new and is having to put a new motor in it at 65,000 miles but still talks crap about how much tougher a Chevy is over a Ford! I call bulls*** on that one. Another chevy owner had to have his tranny replaced at 38,000 miles and his girlfriend drove his truck 90% of the time. I can go on and on with problems the Chevy guy's have with their trucks but I guess my point is made! lol Sorry for the long post but I'm fed up with these big headed Chevy owners!

Was at my Cousins house last night and her husband was talking about his 05 Chevy z-71. It is a daily driver and tows a 5500 lbs camper once a month. He was naming off probably 6-8 things that he has had to replace outside of warranty. He isnt really brand loyal to any company so he says it how it is. After he finished discussing his issues he simply said " its never left me stranded, but I would never reccomend a Chevy" My dad had enough problems with his that he promised never to own another. He purchased 4 Chevy/GMC vehicles in 8 years and they all had issues that were severe and expensive

I know that every manufacturer has their problems and yes a Chevy can last over 200,000 miles if you don't abuse them. Fords seem to be able to take more abuse than a Chevy. One of my friends has a 99 Dodge Ram 2wd with the 318 v8 and it has been a solid truck he's only had to replace the water pump and it has 180,000 miles but everyone else I know that has had a Dodge had nightmares with them cause they were a hunk of junk.

My friends and family have owned all 3. Family member owns a 1998 Chebby 1500, ext cab short bed 4x2 with the 305 and the automatic. He went through 2 motors, 3 transmissions, and 2 rear ends by 180K. My dad's 1998 Ranger has 190K on it today and is still on the original clutch. All of my signs pointed to Ford.

GM is pretty unreliable. Chrysler is between Ford and GM. Ford tops the charts.

That is my impression of their truck sector.

I'm opening up to all brands. Any diesel sounds good to me, wether it be the GM/Detroit 6.2's and Turbo 6.5's, the 6.6, 6.0, or the 6.7's.

The Cummins in the Dodge is proving to be bullet proof motor wise, but nothing beats an H1 in my book.

In truck figuers, the following goes as...

Fords are number 1! (Best built, Best selling trucks now for 30 some odd years in a row)
2nd place--Chevy ( wanna be Fords)
3rd-Dodge (altough Dodges have a terrible reputation on breaking down)
4th-- Toyotas (even thoguh they are trying to get into the truck market, there product of a truck sucks)
5th--Honda (These things are even worse then Toyota and I don't know why Honda says they make a truck? I have yet to see a Honda truck.

brand loyalty is a crap shoot, I will go with that....

Nothing like a good Chivvy truck, just getting lucky enough to find one is tougher. The only thing I dont like about my Ford is it cost way too much money and every little shake or wobble is nerve racking just because of that. I had a 99 1500 and loved it other than the grinding sound coming from the diff.. 125K miles
I had a 92 Sonoma, 166K miles, very good truck... sorry to have sold it now.

Several Ford trucks, loved them all, with minimal problems once I put motors in them.

My bro in law has a 95 z71 pushing 300K miles, never had a single problem that he was supposed to have with it. It blows my mind he never even put a radiator or heater valve on the manifold on it. Never put a wiper module on it, never had problems with 4x4 actuator, I dont get the luck some people have finding a good GM truck. lol

That Ridgeline is really a Honda Pilot.

It has fake 4x4.

It is front wheel drive that has a PTO out that transfers power to the rear wheels ONLY where there is slip on one of the front drive wheels. It is not symmetrical AWD. So it is like driving a front wheel drive truck!

Symmetrical AWD is like a Subaru, where it applies 25% of the engine power to each wheel constantly with a center mounted transfer case that allows slippage during a turn.

Yea I know that brand loyalty is stupid too! I don't mind haveing and open mind towards other manufacturers except for Nissan or Toyota I would rather ride a tricycle before I bought anything from those two. I know that every manufacturer has their good and bad points but after growing up around Chevy's and Fords all my life it just seems like the Fords have stayed together alot better in my opinion.
