Probably inherited money or they aren't afraid of a long commute. It'd be well worth it to me to drive the extra 20 mins to have the extra space...

I was up looking at a gorgeous home buing built on the far eastern edge of Pennsylvania for work earlier this year. I was thinking to myself how awesome it would be to have such a nice home in a quiet, rural area. After talking to the future homeowner following my inspection, I came to find out that each day he commuted clear across the State of New Jersey to a job in the NYC area!

Yeah, that house was nice, but the poor bastard who owned it never got to spend any time there since he spent a major portion of his day crammed into a Honda for a grueling work commute! I can't imagine going through that everyday, no matter how nice the final destination was......

Ha... I can top that. In my school town (Rolla) there is a wealthy business man there who flies to CONNECTICUT every day where he is a lawyer. In town, he owns a hot dog restaurant. The purpose of the restaurant? To teach his children about running a small business. I'm not sure how exactly he flies to Conn (private or commercial), but I can tell you that the nearest major airport is 100 miles away from town.

I wouldnt trade my life as being a cowboy for anything. I was a bull rider and a steer wrestler. I have been a ranch hand on multiple ranches ranging from wyoming to texas. I am only 24 years old and have had spurs on my boots and a rope in my hand since I could walk. Being on horse back 24/7 for a full year only coming in to town for supplys gets lonely but for me was well worth it. There is alot of thought that goes into being a cowboy, it is a long, lonly, hard life.

Yea, one of the women I worked with in Dallas had a 1.5 hour commute to only just barely live out in the country...and it's going to be overtaken in the next year. I freaked out over her commute bill as she has an F150 Lariat. Tolls came in at $80 a month, and with what she paid in gas, she could have paid for gas and a payment on a nice little fuel efficient car, and still kept the Lariat for hauling around her horses.

I don't want to live in the country and work in the city....I just want to stay out there, like somewhere deep in the Rocky's. If I could just talk the wife into letting me pursue working IT at a ski resort I think I'd be set.

My commute is 1.5 hours each way, 3 hours every day just to get to work in the Bronx, NY. And that is when there are no accidents to clog things up.

I wish every day for an easier commute, but the pay is good so I do it. I got a kid going to college soon so I can use the money

My tolls are $200 per month, gas for the F150 is approximately $400 per month. But my budget works with the $600 per month.

The real stress is in driving with all the a holes on the road these days. I get cut off at least 2 times every day, so you got to be alert. Thats not easy being away for 11 hours, then doing the family stuff when I get home.

Maybe when I retire (I hope to do that someday, who knows), I will leave the NYC area for something more country, and learn to relax and enjoy life. Thats my goal for me and the wife.

My brother will do that in 3 years, he already bought a farm in western PA. I am jealous.
