So if the roof is weak, how does that help in a rollover?

That reminds me, I still have some summer sausage in the fridge I need to eat. I'm hungry.

My family was in a rollover accident in my dads 06 4x4 KR F250 SuperCrew a little over a year ago. I lost my sister in it. It only tipped over at a slow speed, not even an entire roll. Something about them have a A beam and a C beam, but no B beam in between.

sorry to hear that, thats aweful. Rollovers are scary, i wouldnt feel comfortable in any vehicle in a rollover.

Holy cow that deer did a lot of damage!! I'm glad no one was hurt but that poor girl, I can imagine the nightmares she's going to have!

Hmm... interesting.

Those pictures are likely gonna hit Snopes with some crazy story behind them.... so you'd better © them ASAP.

Because roll over protection is in all the pillars, not the roof. In theory, the force of a roll over is distributed over a larger area and supported by the A pillars, B pillars and C pillars, thats 6 pillars.

In that one you can bet it was probably close to a 90 mph combined speed collision. If the other car was going 60, then the deer picked up at least 50% of that momentum so was going at least 30 mph..... For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.... It likely didn't just go straight up then fall out of the sky, there was forward momentum.... He was probably doing close to 60 mph, maybe less at time of impact, depends if he had time to react and hit the brakes.

I believe, if I remember right, that
Speed * weight = force.

So 90mph times (lets e say the deer is 100 lbs)
90x100 = 9000 lbs of force........ slightly more than the trucks weighs and was focused in a small area.

Yea it's going to tear some crap up.

I'd expect it would rip the roof of my Ford plum off.

He was doing about 60. They are both fine. Jill is a pretty tough girl, although I hadn't talked to them since the wreck. Clayton, the driver (husband), siad they hadn't even made the first payment on the truck yet. He was glad he had purchased GAP insurance before, cause he said the insurance didn't pay him for the total price of the vehicle.

Sorry to hear the mSaLL150. I've been in two collisions. It is scary.

Wow that GM got jacked up like a fat kid getting his lunch money taken. Not the first or the last to say this. But, that seems kind of a weak truck to me.

I hit a deer in a honda prelude once. Due to the hood shape, it just slid right up it, only denting the hood. My friend and I were LUCKY.

I got t-boned once.

lol, im the one who posted this over on FTW and it got deleted within an hour by the mods. it is very crazy, you cant drive down a backroad at night in arkansas without a deer taking off in front of you.

Not a backroad. Just a regular Ar state highway.

I am interested in seeing how collisions actually take place. I have hit 2 deers, one at about 70 and one at about 45. Both times I ran over the deer and di very little damage. Am I just lucky? Or are there other factors involved?

P.S. force = mass x speed squared

Well, technically, force = time rate of change of linear momentum, but you get the idea.
