so i was hopping in my f150 yesterday after my last class, and this girl in my class starts up here little toyota celica gt. Instantly my ears start hurtin from the freakin knocking in the engine bay. I told her to pop the hood right away and she was like yea its been doin that for like 2 or 3 days and its really annoying. So i asked her when she last checked or changed the oil. Supposedly just a cpl weeks ago when her friend borrowed the car they took it in.
They said they changed the oil and put in a new filter. Well they drained the oil....put in a new AIR filter.......and didnt even bolt up the covers under the engine..they were dragging on the ground. remember this was done at a shop..i dont know which. I dont think they even put any oil back in.

So i pulled the dipstick....dry as a bone except for the gunk hangin on the tip of it. The oil filler cap was filled with dark brown sludge too and it was NASTY. I was like holy cow! you need some oil in this baby or yer gonna seize up. Then she wanted to drive it to get oil and i said no way. So she went with a friend n came back with 2 qts put it in, fired it up, and it just barely touched the stick. so i told her to jus take it to jiffy lube or somewhere close. they ended up flushing everything but at least it doesnt rattle like a diesel now so i told her merry xmas and i wont even charge. 50 bucks is cheaper than a new engine plus labor. Then i taught her a little easy maintenance and some bad noises to listen for. thats my good deed for the day!

FWIW I just helped a guy who works where I do get his 2500 van outta the ditch no schnit less than 2 hrs ago. I don't know what was better - pulling out the chebbie or just helping a friend out. Oh well. Merry Christmas all!
