Anyone a MARS operator?
Anyone a MARS operator?
Crazy question, but are there any members on here who are a MARS (Military Affliate Radio System) operator? Does anyone know someone who is.
I'm trying to set up some things and am having no luck, so I figured I would reach out to my F150 brothers / sisters.
Thanks!
Andy

What MOS would that be?(I know its like a sponsored program) I work as a 3rd level. I work around some 94E's. I also work with chark and trojan spirit and IEWCS guys. Don't think they do any radio things in your perspective. I work in the armys new STB. Engineers, Signal, MI. I could talk to some of the signal, but usually they are like 25bs and u's. What's your problem?

I'm a Coastie
Thanks for the response, but you successfully confused me .... LOL.
The MARS prgram is operated by civilians on land and they provide an emergency radio communications circuit as well as HF phone patches. I'm trying to set up the HF phone patch because we are deployed for the holidays and it is a way for my shipmates to call home.
Anyways, I'm sorry, but I have no clue what you were talking about. But if you think they can help, I'm always willing to learn something new.
Thanks

Just some FYI that might help you in your search.
For years many MARS stations were run by the military, at least in the Marine Corps. I worked in communications and knew several people that worked the MARS stations.
I'm fairly sure they had set frequency authorizations, but have no idea what freq's they worked on.
If it helps any, I'd suggest going and talking to your comm guys where you are. We almost always had ways to call secure or unsecure and patch. Usually over the holidays they were much more liberal about us use it more and spread the joy, especially if we used alternatre frequencies and extra gear.

I will talk to the commo guys, and signal guys. HF = High freq? IDK
If anything, we have to have a warrent officer or someone who was somewhere sometime for some dumb reason of the army's needs that worked around or with you guys.
You are a civilian? Or are you USCG (looked at your profile) working with civilians? You are trying to set up a HF phone to work with a reciever? A patch from what I understand is usually like a "medium" or middle to connect usually a sender and receiver? Am I close?
It's how phone PBX's work anyhow. If I am right, let me know, So I can ask these guys a correctly understandable formatted question. FYI: 94E's are radio repair guys. Trojan spirit is the army's "secret" internet with an interface to crap like NSA net. National security agency, etc.
WOOOOOOOOOO
I'll ask anyone anywhere to help me. I'm in the MI unit, but I'll go next door and ask some high speed NCO's about MARS.I dont think the engineers know, all they can do is break **** and blow it up.
