Cool! I didn't know that. Thanks for the info. I thought that my first thread would be old and no one see it and I was still "in the cold".
Thanks for letting me know.

No problem.
As soon as you post in a thread it gets bumped to the top, after so many replies the thread becomes hot.

I hope you get your heater fixed soon.
It's a pretty simple system, if you got circulation and you got air flow then you get heat.
The blower is working and the blend door is working then you likely got air flow.
So now your looking at circulation.
Both hoses are warm and thermostat is open so your getting flow.
The only logical assumption is that the core is plugged, wether it's the water passages or core fins.....
We'll hope for water passage.......
You atleast have the hope of being able to get it opened with out removing or replacing the core.
Try the home flush kit, cost $5 and takes about 20 mins. 5 mins of that is letting the truck run.
You just add the flush to the radiator, start the truck and let it warm up, run another 5-10 mins. shut it off and let cool some. Drain radiator, add more anti-freeze/water.

I needed to have the front-end checked out today and the guy told me he thought the heater core was fine and that he thinks the control box (under dash, a black box maybe) is not working. Has anyone ever changed one?

I'm not 100% sure what he's talking about.

Ok, really I have no idea, but I'm not experienced or knowledgeable in the dash,
Sorry.

Looks like Quintin has been in there, maybe he'll be able to shed some light on the subject.

I think he said it was an actuator. 2 screws holding it in place with a few wires. It open/closes the door?? Or maybe operates a valve for the hot water flow??? That is my guess. He said it should be easy to change. Drop glove box and it should be there close.

There are no actuators to access behind the glovebox. The temperature control actuator is on the transmission tunnel, mounted upside down behind the black plastic cover on the tunnel.

And I still think the door is broken.

I looked behind the glove box at lunch time and you are right, there was no actuator there. I can see the blend door and it opens/closes when I change the control between air condition-heat. Where should I look for the door you are talking about?

Sometimes, the door doesn't break, but it instead will crack and not turn all the way.

The door I see open and close is behind the glove box, towards the fender. When I turn the controls (from air, to heat) it will open and close. I'm not sure if this is the door he is talking about. Is there another? This one seems to only open/close durring changing to airconditioning/heat. So I would lean towards this not being the blend door. ?? Does the blend door alow fresh air in or what?

Buried way under the dash, it's shown in Q's picture.

That's the recirculation/fresh air door. You'll be able to see the blend door by coming in from the passenger's side with a penlight on the transmission tunnel. The blend door motor is mounted upside down and has a male end that connects to a female end on the blend door. The end on the door splits, allowing the motor to turn without moving the door. You'll have to look carefully in the gap between the blend door motor and the heater/evaporator case to see the door, but you can see if it's broken or not.

Ok, that sounds more like my problem. I have not looked very much there. I thought at first the door behind the glove box was the blend door but the more I thought about it, that couldn't be it because it only moved when changing between air/heat.
Thanks for the help. I'll have to wait until Sat or Sun to look.
Thanks again!
