Question Am I asking too much?

I have had my truck for sell for 5 or 6 months, and i haven't had any real intrest in it. im asking $11,000 as is, and i will reduce the price by removing the subs, edge, and autometer gauges, down to 9,000 min. so am i asking to much? it has 103,000 and runs great, mods are in the sig, i still owe 6,000 and would like to get some of the money i have put into it back but i know i will never get all plaease give me your opions. im heading overseas im a couple weeks and i want to get a Lightning or Harley Davidson f150 whan i get back.

Well, I'll tell you this. I bought mine at a dealership for what kbb lists as trade in value. That was only a few $K above your asking price. It seems trucks aren't going for as much as they once did. Blame the gas prices I guess.

We have a 2000 X-cab 4X4 w/94XXX miles Full power options.

Price on the sticker is $6500 and it will sell for cash at about $5500

You are more than double what it is worth. Forget the mods. They are just expenses of owning your truck. You wanted them. You added them. Don't expect anyone else to pay for them. Plain and simple. I think you are going to be lucky to get $6000. VERY LUCKY

Hate to dump in your Cherios but you asked for honest opinions.

Agreed, to much, I wouldn't even call you, I'd just laugh at the ad and if you didn't put the price in the ad, then I'd try to hang up before I started laughing when you told me on the phone.

Haha. x2

There's places advertising brand new regular cab XLs for not much more than that.

I paid just under private party KBB for mine from a *dealer* just over a year ago. No way are you going to get more than private party KBB for yours, modded or not. Gas prices are too high right now. Bad time to try to sell a truck, especially a modded one. If someone offers you 6k, take the money and run. If this is not acceptable, take it off the market and keep it for the long haul, get it paid off.

Yeah... I'm done with the vehicle trading/buying... I'm set now for a couple years. I may or may not get a SD 2 or 3 years from now... I might buy some other stuff... like boats, tractors, bobcats, etc. Just more toys to somehow use my cash flow up when I get my bigger job.

Bite the bullet and give 'em your cell #

This worked for me (and I know other folks may not agree) but make sure you price it at KBB "private party" plus a margin for ****ering and a small portion of your mod cost and then PUT YOUR CELLPHONE NUMBER IN THE AD. I've sold 4 cars outright including my 02 s'crew. The s'crew sat on the market for 6 weeks last year with just a few nibbles and voicemails to my home phone. When I put my cell # in the ad and caught people "real time" as they surf'd the classified ads in the paper, it sold the 1st weekend with 2 people bidding over it (I'd dropped the price to right on KBB private party). And take digital pics of the drivers license of anyone who shows up to test drive it. They get the message "run off with my truck and I'll find you"...

Yes, you have to deal with a whole host of dud calls so be ready for that. Lots of folks asking "Do you take payments? and even one "Will you meet me at the train station".

Just wait for the good guy who can bring you cash for at least $2K more than dealers. The smart truck shoppers out there buy clean trucks this way, but you have to deal with the riff-raff along the way. Doing business yourself isn't without risk, but if you're smart and careful it pays well.

Good luck and thanks for your service!

$11K for a 2001 2wd 4.6 with 103K miles? De-mod it, and cut the price in half. Yeah, your truck is modded, but it still doesn't have *nearly* $5k in mods...

You didn't even pay that much for your 1 year older "grandpa" modded..... (but still quite a few mods) 4x4, SD, diesel, loaded with less miles ....

If I had a choice between $11K for yours or $11K for his.... I'd take the loaded F250 Super Duty, 4x4 diesel......... If nothing else, if I didn't need it, then it's still worth more.

Actually, I paid more, but it still shows you how far out of whack his prices are.

I don't know what prices are in OK, but around here you can expect close to $5,500 - $6k maybe. Realize you have a smaller motor, over 100k in miles, and the mods don't mean anything to most.

Just keep it until the wheels fall off or sell it now and break even with your loan balance.

And a regular cab. And 2wd. And etc. $11K will easily get you a Super cab F-150 4x4 5.4 with under 100K miles in these neck of the woods... Yours included. OK prices are about the same as MO.
