We get the 25 and 1 off, but the gov. gives us a 1/2 day to be used on the 24 or 31. I work for the state, but spend my day working w/ private contractors on the highway. Between our rules (no lane closures near holidays) and the contractor's union rules, I usually get a pretty good break during the holidays (using vacation time). After over 15yrs. doing what I do, it still amazes me how hard it is to get any meaningful construction done during Dec. ... after t-giving, everyone seems to be in holiday mode

We don't take vacation in the bidness... even if you gotta crawl, you see your people. Its bidness, not personal.

I'm off from Dec. 22nd - Jan 6th, so yeah, it's a holiday.

I love being a teacher.

Only days that the store is closed are

Thanksgiving

Christmas

The other days are open with shortended hours, but none the less open.

While in the states us Military folk get tons of days off for Holidays, usually go to minimum manning and get a week or two total during christmas.....

But over here.........NO days off, worked all the Holidays thus far, Christmas and New Years and then its back to America.....At least working the holidays keeps your mind off being away from freinds and Family.........

Happy Holidays all!

Yes
As is the entire month of December and 3 weeks of January....
I've been off since November 30th and don't go back until January 28ish. May have to go back a week earlier to gear up for spring season.
I am already so freakin bored it's not funny, this is torture, but if I went to the office then I'd just be bored there, because there is nothing to do. Normally there is 50+ people in the office and we are all filling multiple shoes, overwhelmed with work. ... right now there is 1-3 in the office..... they just kind of float in and out taking turns watching the phones... Literally watching the phones hoping that they will ring and give them something to do.
So any little thing I think of I call in for, I call and give them something to do. I called them Friday and sent one to the store to get a mouse pad......... thats how freakin slow it is there.

Be happy with shortened hours. No shortened hours or holidays closed, work till 1030 at least everytime I come in.
