Central US Ice Storm

The world is freezing over here in Kansas. Oklahoma is already frozen. God be with those folks down there. I just hope power hangs in there for us in the current onslaught.

So let's see your ice storm pics for this current barrage!

This is about 5:30 pm 10 Dec 07. Truck has just about a 1/8" of ice. Hood was warm about an hour ago so it's lagging behind.

Tree's are holding up so far:

Funny thing is there's thunder rolling out there. A bit to freaking cold for me to try and get pics of that though.

Ahhhhh, nice and ice free for the most part here

Last Sat. I had about 1/8th-1/4 inch of ice on the truck, and this Sat. was a little icy too, but we managed. Not to bad here anyway.

Yeah I remember the ice storm in MO last year, I was out of power for 10 days. Thank God for generators!

This storm was supposed to go just to the south of us. We have now been added to the warnings. Right now the stars are out so I expect we will only get hit by the edge of it.

We had a little ice Saturday night and Sunday AM---now, tormorrow, they say rain, but "stay tuned for further updates" Living in Cleveland, I am used to snow---you can see it, you can move it around; ice is just downright nasty.

God bless those who have been hit hard.

We had ice up here this morning, but not as bad as you folks down in the south/mid sections of this country. It's been a few years since we got hit like that.

Hang in there and stay safe. Ice can be some pretty dangerous stuff.

Power went out for about 30 minutes so far. Flickering on and off from time to time. Sure hope we make it through the night with power. Hate to wake up and it be 40 degrees in the house.

Good luck everyone, stay safe and warm. It's cold here, about 12° but very dry, no ice.

1/4+ inch of ice on the truck now. It took some work to get the door open...even to get the handle to pull out

Grabbed this shot this morning before leaving. About 3/4-1" coating the front of the truck, which was nosed in against the garage. Back of the truck, it was closer to 2" of ice.
Spent $8 at the carwash getting the doors freed up and the head/tail lights uncovered. We only had about 2" of snow on top, and most of the major roads are wide open.

Well, I just got power back on a little bit ago, it's been off since Sunday evening. My wife couldn't handle it, she went to some friends house to stay last night. I stayed to watch the neighborhood from the idiots that think it's open season if you aren't home. It got down to 57 in the house by this am, but had extra blankets and both dogs to keep me warm(?). It changed to all rain this morning, but we had almost 2 inches of solid ice on everything. Many power lines down all over the area. I've been cutting up tree branches for the last two days. It has not been a fun time. I wish it was mandatory to bury all the darn power & cable lines. There are still people that are without power around, but not the thousands that were earlier!

Stay warm
