New Zealand Air Rocks

Finally a flight across the Pacific that won't suck.

Highlights:
1. Lounge at Auckland has 3 bottles of self serve rum and a soda fountain.
2. Wireless internet is free.
3. Lots of good snacking food.
4. Free massage included w/my flight.
5. Sitting in a really comfortable leather recliner w/footstool in a "Mobile Phone Free Area", with my own a/c power outlet 2 ft away. The mobile phones allowed section has what appears to be 1970s chairs and no power outlets.
6. There is no First Class only Business Premier seats...meaning they are the same lay out flat pods you see on United First Class..

Edit: Here's a link to the plane map:
http://www.airnewzealand.com/traveli..._new_popup.htm

Now normally I get the United Business class on the upper level, seat 18H, but w/the lounge and the pods...I believe I just found my new favorite airline.

Thougts??

They generally use 747's out of LA and 777 Boeings out of San Francisco.I like the flights out of San Fran now as LA is a zoo.The flight is also direct so no wasted time. The only trouble with the 777 is that it only has 2 engines compared to the 4 on the jumbo. There is a lot of water under you on that flight!!!!!!I do it 2-3 times a year but unfortunately I fly in the cheap seats.

No worries even a 747 can fly on one engine.

Isn't it like a 22hour flight from the states to New Zealand?

Nope...almost 12 to LA, I suppose it could be 22 from other places if direct, the lady sitting next to me was continuing on to London (10.5 hours from LA).

I made it just fine, a little hungover (see free rum above), but my luggage (including ~$2000 in tools) is still in Auckland...of course this is on top of United leaving my bags in SanFran while I was in Sydney...had to work w/o my tools, or clean underwear for that matter for 3 days...I can't catch a break on these flts..

The bigger planes, trans ocean flts are generally 747's, but they do have some A320's..

BTW, I saw a Sinapore Air A380 in Sydney...that thing is GIANORMOUS..
