ASUS Laptops?
ASUS Laptops?
Does anyone one here have any expierience with ASUS laptops? I know that they make some quality computer parts, and my buddy has one of their gaming laptops. He tells me that it will handle pretty much anything. I was looking at their tablet pc laptop, and I just don't know a whole lot about the specs. I am wanting a laptop that is quality, capable of running several apps quickly, demanding apps(3d solid modeling, etc...), surfing internet, and things of that nature.
Also, what should I be looking for in computer specs to provide me with what I want the computer to be able to do as mentioned above?

ASUS laptops are popular among gamers because they put high performance hardware in their machines. Ive heard good and bad about them. They generally perform very strong, being they have top quality parts. Some bad things i have heard though...
-battery life tends to not be good, since the high performance components eat up a lot of juice quickly
-their LCD screens tend to bleed a lot
-their keyboards are sometimes setup kinda funny, like the Fn and Ctrl keys being swapped, which can get annoying fast.
i almost got one but settled on a dell. i have a very high performance PC for my games.
If you want something that multitasks well and is fast, make sure you get a multi-core processor, preferably those new core 2 extremes from intel. i have one in my dell laptop and it is lightning fast. For 3d modeling and graphically heavy programs, make sure it has a decent graphics card (aka not the intel one, make sure it has one from Nvidia or ATI). My laptop has an Nvidia card, and it can play most dx9 games perfectly fine on a 17" monitor. Also, to help it stay fast, make sure it is capable of holding 2 gigs of RAM. it might only come with 1 gig, just make sure its a single stick. you can buy another 1 gig stick for like 30 bucks and put it in so you have 2 gigs.
hope this helps

IBM is trying to stop the Asus from being imported because of Patent infringements. I have never heard of them before today, but understand they make laptops for Apple and Dell...
