Montana didn't have an “exact” speed limit. In fact, the signs used to read "Reasonable & Prudent." But then in 1996, a Montana Patrolman gave a guy a ticket for going 85, but there was no offering as to what a "reasonable" speed was. The driver was convicted, but then appealed all the way to the Montana Supreme Court in 1998, where the conviction was overturned. In 1999, Montana had new laws on the books and a posted speed limit on the highways.

Elvato: I know exactly where your talking about. I used to live in Waterford lakes off of alafaya. I went to school at University highschool and also went to UCF. I've only been in Texas for a year now. I'll actually be back in Orlando on the 21st. Its a small world.

lately ive been driving 70-75 on the highway. I got a warning the other day going to school with cruise on 75. but in town speedlimit is 65.

speedlimits in the 70s were for emissions reasons only

I do to, all 4-5 tanks a week.

Raoul, the only explanation I can give is that I have 3.55 gears and 31.5" tires. At 85 I am right in the peak power/torque. It's not having to work at all.

Another phenomena I've noticed, I'm a smoker so I often have my window cracked while I smoke. At 80 and lower the wind noise is choppy, with blast of air slapping the window. At 85 and up it starts to smooth out to a low tone, lower decibel, a low soft howl. Almost like a boat coming on plane. I can only assume I have a cushion of air in front of me rounding out the nose.

80%-90% of my driving is highway, thats how I rack up 800-1000 miles per week on an average week, more if I'm sent further for what ever reason. Don't worry I'm paid for it, Time+mileage but barely break even for wear and tear and maintenance, besides gas, 2 oil changes a month gets expensive.

I can usually, typical weeks, get away with every 3 weeks sometimes squeeze a fourth week in for 3K miles, but I budget for 2 a month because it's not that uncommon to go 3K in 2 weeks. There is rumors of a promotion in December for me, and if so and if I take it, then it will be even more.

That's why you can find sections of I-10 in Texas w/ 80 MPH speed limits. Of course, VA is stuck in the slow lane at 65 MPH pretty much all over the state, except parts of I-85.
I beleive that Virginia follows the law of going as fast as the person in front of you. Many years driving the beltway at speed and volume that make it look like a mini daytona, have ruined me. Now I live where there is no posted speed limit, however it would be flat insane to exceed it.

How do you exceed a non posted limit?

(Here if a road is not posted, inside City limits = 25 mph, state or county = 55 mph)

Last I checked he was 1K ahead of me... so by now he's probably at 116K.

Almost.... 115,922.
Z you've got until I go back to work January 28 (+/-) to catch up again.
Maybe a week or two less. I only have one trip to Arkansas planned between now and then.

BTW I meant to type January for possible promotion.
Thanks for the wishes Scott.
Not 100% sure I want it, it will be more time traveling, less time at home, more miles on the truck and more responsibilities.

Positives are year round work, guaranteed 40 hours +, and advancement up the hierarchy.
We'll see how much they are willing to compensate me for.

December will be a make up month for me. I'll be working in Illinois again, so 80 miles a day, plus I've got a few road trips planned, one to Chicago and possibly another to Kentucky to pick up some parts from Cap'n Morgan if that deal works out. So, 1600 miles in the next month, plus another 1200-1400 for road trips will put me at 117ishK. And I've gotta change the oil at 115K. Dad will love that...

Yea you'll probably pass me, I plan to plant my happy butt right here at home unless absolutely necessary. I got home about 7pm Friday and the truck didn't even start again until yesterday morning to run and get my hair cut. I almost made it 4 days.

With all this traveling you should stop by my place and have a few beers and hang out...

Heck, I wouldn't mind hanging out sometime next year with you and go on a lake and have some fun with your boat...
