Suicide...Where do you go...?

I have been in this discussion at least 3-4 times in the last week now. Before I start I am most definitely NOT contemplating suicide.

There have been a lot of suicides lately and one of my friends hung himself in a hotel room in Oklahoma a few weeks ago and me and a few other buddies have been talking about some stuff. Some say that suicide sends you straight to hell, but in the Bible it says that god will never put on you more than you can bear and if you kill yourself then it was obviously more than you can bear, but it also says thou shalt not kill. Which leaves me confused.

Basically what I am asking is what do you think? If you don't believe in Heaven and Hell or there is no god, then there is pretty much no point in you responding. Thanks

I almost killed myself when my father dented my Dakota with his Compass... but I didn't get to far when I tried starting up a lawn mower and cutting off my hands and legs... what happened was the lawn mower needed a carb adjustment and it was flooding the engine. Dang did I hate that mower...

So how did I unleash my anger?! I set the fricken thing on fire in the middle of my road with about 2 gallons of kerosene. It never saw life again.

Oh and as far as me... well I got over it... dang it.

But on the lighter side of things... I believe in heaven and people go to heaven... that's just my thoughts.

But on the other hand that lawn mower that gave me hell... I sent it to hell... haahaha

If they accepted Christ as personal lord and savior before suicide they would be in heaven. Suicide is nothing more than any other sin, the only sin that can not be forgiven is to not accept the Lord as your savior saving you from the sin nature you were born into.

They are not of sound mind so they can't really be judged purely on that IMO, something fairly major has to be amis upstairs before someone could do that.

Every situation is different, and I think God looks at every individual as unique and will make his judgment on the individuals unique circumstances.

For the most part, excluding accidental suicides, I'd guess most are going to hell. Which is unfortunate because I have had 2 friends take them selfs out on purpose. I don't think you can ask for forgiveness before the sin, thats called premeditated.
One of the guys my wife works with, his brother made another failed attempt this past weekend. (how lame do you have to be to fail once, much less more than once?) "Sounds like attention to me" anyway I digress.....He swerved to hit another car head on. In that case if he'd seceded. Pretty sure that would have been a sentence to fire and brim stone, especially if it would have killed someone in the other car.

Besides accidental, another possible exclusion might be mental illness. I'm sure if God is a fair and just God, then he will take that into account.
Another possibility for exclusion could be demon possession. And just because a person becomes possessed, does not mean that their soul is corrupt. Their body is possessed, not their soul. However the body is Gods temple, in theory it couldn't be possessed if they allowed God in to his temple.

I have heard that God won't give you more than you can bare. However he will allow you to get burdened down and he will not take the load from you unless you ask. So apparently if the load is more than they can bare, they did not allow God to take over their life. They were still trying to carry and control it all.

I would have to disagree,I have had discussions about this in church and feel that if you die by suicide you will go to hell. How else can you ask for forgiveness of your final sin? You won't be alive to confess your sins to Jesus Christ. Once you enter the kingdom of heaven anything you have net set right with God will be judged on that day.

Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem.

I believe fully in this.

It's never more than the individual can bear, they are just taking the easy way out instead of working through it. Ironically enough, it just puts that much more grief and pain on others involved in whatever the situation was that prompted the self-inflicted offing.

IMO it's a slippery slope, an issue I may never know until I meet my Creator. While suicide is no more a sin than stealing a candy bar, it's the only sin that is unforgivable. And by that I mean the individual has no chance at pleading forgiveness, by the time it happens it's too late. Fundamentally, the Christian basis is that God is a just, forgiving, and righteous God. But we as Christians can only receive forgiveness when we ask for it. It's not so far from the principle of Luke 11:9, "So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you."

On the other hand, God is the ultimate judge who is fair and just. I'll be the last person to tell you God's thoughts.

The bible states that God will never erase your name from the book of life. Meaning, I believe, once you are truely saved you can not lose your salvation. I believe we are rewarded for our actions on earth, but actions cannot get you to heaven. So, someone who commits suicide I think can go to heaven, but your reward in heaven may not be as great.

******* any God who allows people to suffer from an illness that is so horrifically painful they kill themselves to escape it and then blames them.
