Nobody is happy with what they have...we buy trucks that are fine stock but for some reason we HAVE to modify them with all sorts of goodies...

We buy motorcycles, boats, 4 wheelers, homes and just have to modify them. It must be some sort of human nature to modify stuff and it has built a billion dollar industry in the mean time.

I sometimes think the manufacturers put crap parts on knowing that we will get rid of it and replace it. Generally nothing escapes the modification bug from engines to interior to paint...
I admit, I too suffer from this ailment and it gives me great pleasure to play with my vehicles-hell, I even have been known to modify my lawnmower..

Interesting observation isn't it....Look at the past threads and there isn't one thing on our trucks that someone isn't trying to modify.

 

It's in our nature. Waaaaaaay back when, there was a caveman. He was sitting there looking at his brand new stick he picked up in the woods.

He thinks "Hmmm, stick good. Me no like stock stick though. Hmmm, rub stick on rock. Oooh, end of stick sharp now. Modified stick better."

 

Then the modified stick was passed onto his son, and his son was happy with the stick, but thought it could go faster. So the son fashioned a device using a flexible branch and some vine...

"New stick faster than modified stick. Now called Super modified stick. Oog win!".

 

uh yeah... glad you noticed.

 

Humans do not even like themselves in "Stock Form", look at all of the breast enhancements walkin around..............

 

I want it to fit ME better....Im not happy with it being what everyone else has or is ok with.

Humans are modifiers, it must be part of our design.

I am noticing that the manufacturers are placing more and more focus on making their vehicles so we can mod them easier..

It's amazing how many companies have come to life due to the after-market industry....

It is very true that we must make something our own-could you imagine world where that wasn't an issue-I sure couldn't.

On another note-we have lots of snow up here and I am seeing snowmobiles out all ready...I love having a 4x4 though...

 

Not totally true, the Ford Sport Trac 1st generation was easy to life/lower, the new generation has IRS, with the half shafts running through holes in the frame, pretty much impossible to do a simple lift or drop.

 

It's because we're building out vehicles to suit our needs. Do you just buy a house and live in it? No. You paint it, put stuff in it that you like. Same way with a boat/truck/etc.
