After surgery---Physical Therapist Pain!
After surgery---Physical Therapist Pain!
I was amazed that, despite having both knee joints replaced ( and six-inch scars) I never really experienced surgicalpain. However, now that the physical terrorist shows up four times a week, there is real AGONY! Surgery really screws up your quadracepts muscles, and you haveto stretch them on a daily basis---really past the point of discomfort---I am three weeks out of surgery, and right now the farthrst I can bend my right knee is 98degrees, and my left is only 95. This lady makes me hurt! I want my mommy!

Yup. My friend is a p/t. I sprained my ankle severly when i was in high school playing basketball, on cruches for 2 weeks. Went to p/t after i got off the crutches.. she kicked my butt 4 days a week! I had to hop around, hop up stairs, down, all kinds of stuff. But, i have never had another problem with it since then, 18 years later!
Just keep digging... it will get better.,

I have had three surgeries on my right knee, the worst one was when they cut a wedge of bone out of my Femur just above the knee to straighten my leg out. The physical therapy seemed to go slow and then all of a sudden it goes fast. It has been about 10 years since that operation and that knee is still numb when I touch it. It works great though, so I can't complain. It will get sore where they cut the bone when I am getting sick or if some crazy weather is blowing in. Other than that I can't tell they did anything with it. Works better then before.
grow some ***** and pop a couple vicatin and run some laps. youll be back in no time. hahaha
Just kidding
my dad was having P/t on his hand and he said that it sucked. Just keep pushing eventually you will be back to 100%.

Amen to that!
Where do you live? I wanna come over and "help ya out" any I can.

No, for real though, good luck and try to think "forward". It will be over sooner or later, and the choice is yours. The harder you work, the sooner it'll be over.

Knee injuries and rehab suck! Two at once would be really bad. I thought they only did one replacement at a time. Your knees must have been shot. On the positive side, everyone I know that has had a knee replacement was ultimately very pleased with the results and improved quality of life after rehab.
It will take a while, but hang in there. Someday the bad stuff will be a distant memory.
FWIW, I shattered my patella into 8 pieces in a dirt biking accident (head on collision with a wrong way rider on a marked one way trail). Took many hours to get to the hospital and painkillers. The Dr. fished out the knee cap and stitched me up.
After 8 weeks in a full leg cast, I got into a brace and started the partial weight bearing and PT. Could not bend the knee at all at first (well, maybe 5 degrees). Regaining mobility SUCKED. Complete agony at the hands of a beautiful petite blonde as she bent my leg farther than it wanted to bend. And held it. Over and over and over again. I did not cry everytime, but it happened more than once. Screamed in agony alot, too.
Well, so after about 5 months of painful therapy where I worked my *** off, I was able to get my range of motion back, but only about 15% of my strength. The surgeon had to go in again. 6 more weeks of no weight bearing (with a full leg brace that gave me a few degrees of movement) followed by a two months of partial weight bearing. Got out of the brace with about 15* movement. Had to regain range of motion on the same knee for the second time in a year. Movement came back easier the second time around, but it still was not easy.
Worked my *** off for 6 more months in therapy, only to still top out at 15% of the strength of my good leg.
It was a long time ago, but for about the first 10 years I'd break into a sweat just thinking about it.
Sorry for the ramble, but best wishes for your recovery!

Yep---I was in a drug-induced haze after surgery---no pain. Two days afterward, though, the PT showed up in my room and got me out of bed. Since then, it has been 3-4 times a week. and there is the agony. Ysterday I let loose a stream of profanity. Didn't phase her---she sais she has heard it all before. Down the road I am looking forward to getting my life back; now, pain on an almost daily basis...
