Gun Cabinet

I'm thinking of getting a new gun cabinet for... myself

I did a search here and didn't come up with anything. Nonetheless, what would all you enthusiasts reccommend for a nice and sturdy cabinet and where to buy? I'd like to get something that isn't just plain jane (maybe one that has like a wildlife scene or something).

Additionally, I'd be curious if anyone has some good plans as I could build my own (although right now I'd just prefer to buy).

Thanks much

Liberty makes a good safe as does Granite. Check out Bass Pro Shops if you have one local. They have decent safes too that are cheaper than the rest (usually).

if you have the money and are willing to fork up some cash for a very nice safe that is fireproof, and has cool designs on it, check out the Browning safes. they are VERY cool.

I have a smaller, more simple safe, gets the job done though.

Right at the front of his safe, same as the way I keep mine easiest to grab to protect the family. 00 Buck, Slug, 00 Buck.
If mSall150 is like myself, I feel comfortable with the front weapon loaded, safety off since I am the ONLY fingerprint that will open my safe

You can always do a Real Tree overlay if you want a custom look.

Ya those Browning safes are nice!! There are a ton of different brands that make them with scenery. I think Cabellas has some in their catalog and Bass Pro does also. There are a bunch of others but i can't think of the names but make sure you get fireproof if you buy one.
I made my own if you would like i can get ya a pick?? I don't have plans though because i build stuff from my thoughts as i go.

mSall150 do you have enough shotguns in there

mSaLL how do you like your super black eagle? Sorry not trying to hijack but I'm considering one for waterfowling.

It's been my experiecne that Murphy loves loaded firearms. To each their own, I am just a little nuts about safety, it only takes a split second to push the safety so I keep mine on. Heck I keep the safety's on on most of my guns unless it's a bolt in which case I release the spring tension by pulling the trigger with the bolt open and slowly closing the bolt on an empty chamber. That way the spring and firing pin ride down gently.

Thanks to this thread I now want a purdy 12 gauge shotgun.

I call BS.

Unless you are the Minnie Pearl of gun owners, I can't think of any reason someone would leave price tags on their guns...and I suppose you could tell me that is your basement, but it sure looks like commercial flooring to me.

So then the question becomes, what kind of jagoff takes pictures of guns in a store and then tries to convince everybody they are his?

When is the last time you saw firearms used in a floor display? I have tags on several firearms, care to call BS on me too?

It looks like bare concrete to me, that is also found in many places that are not commercial. Most gun shops I go to have finished floors.

Damn near every shop selling used guns and every gun show I've ever been to have tags on the used guns. Most of the large gun sellers around here (Scheel's, Cabela's, Bass Pro) also have tags on every new gun as well.

Why else would you have tags on a gun?

I dunno, I must be weird. When I buy a gun, it's to go shoot, not to let it sit around and look pretty. I guess if you are into trying to get people to admire you for what you paid for the gun, you would leave the tag on. I suppose you left the window sticker in your truck after Daddy bought it and you started driving it around too?

In other words, tough guy-Sure, I can either call BS on you too, or call you a pompous egocentric bag full of hot air, which would you prefer?

Does that Benelli still have the Inertia Drive sticker still on it?

That is a nice safe, I have one from Cabelas, its around 400 or more lbs. works for me. I don't have that many guns, just 3 SG's and 2 HD's.

I have a small Liberty Centurion, a 19 cubic footer, with a S&G dial type lock. Weighs about 450 lbs empty, I store mostly my semi auto rifles and pistols in it. I have a gun cabinet I bought from WalMart, one of those wood/glass jobbers with the animals carved on the glass and such. It looks nice, but it's about as secure as a house of cards.

I went hunting with a guy not long ago that left his inertia drive sticker on his Benelli. I guess it was new and he didn't want to let go yet?

I would like a new Benelli, but man are they expensive.
