Anyone know a guy? (wii)

So I got the bright idea that I'm going to surprise hubby and my 5 year old with a Wii this year. Well being the game-challenged individual I am, I had NO idea these damn things were still in high demand.

Along with everyone else in the world, I've been calling around and visiting stores to see if anyone has them. No luck. So I thought I'd check here if anyone "knows a guy" or any way to get one?

I do not see why you cant go into your local BestBuy or Circuit City and pick opne up. They should have plenty of them. Or order one online.

Right place, at the right time, sweetheart. That's how I got mines.

Pick a store that would specialize in gaming supplies (Eb Games, etc) and find out when they are expecting a delivery of Wii's. Then just check in on that day from time to time.

That's your best bet.

The only thing that's harder to get this year than a Wii, is a second helping of Christmas dinner at Kirsty Alley's house...

Every place in Michigan is sold out, and most stores only get between 5-15 of them. I have heard this is common throughout the country. Going to your local Best Buy, Walmart, Circuit City, Target, etc... ain't going to cut it. You need to be in line well before the stores open if you want a new one.

Alternatively, Craigs List and Ebay are always options. But I can almost promise you that they will be going for about $75-$100 more than what they retail for.

I hear ya RC, I posted a a thread a couple weeks ago inquiring as to whether this would be a good gift for my wife and kids. Everyone seems to love them, but you may have to wait until Christmas is over to get one at the cost as everyone else. Unless you can find a used one somewhere.

I would imagine they are hard to find everywhere, at least here in Michigan they are impossible.

Seriously! I had NO idea it was going to be this tough to get one. I just pinged a friend of mine who seems to know tons of people and he said he was in Best Buy down the road from my house last week and they had a TON of them. WTF??? Why couldn't I have thought of this LAST week????

well, I was one of the lucky ones in ohio who stood in line since 2AM day after thingksgiving just to buy a Wii as a gift. I was the VERY last person in line to get the Wii when stores opened at 5am at Best Buy!

Wii is for the 2nd year in a row the hottest gift to buy once again!

Wow, there were tons of Wii's sitting on the shelves here a few weeks ago. RacerChick, if you're still hard up for one in a week or so, let me know and I'll see if I can pick one up for you....

Toys R Us got about a 100 last week. Gone the same day. You'll have to woo some poor geeky stocker to hold one for you.

You have the physical tools....use them.

Same thing happened to me RC. I had no idea they were still in such demand. I ended up getting one online. It cost more, plus the shipping and handling charges. But deperate times called for desperate measures. I actually forget which site I got it on, but there were a few out there that had them. Do a search and you should come up with something. In the meantime, I'll check to see if I can find the name of the site I finally bought it from.

I went through the same thing with the PS2 a few years ago (it had been out for years so why it was hard to buy I don't know)... anyway one day I walk through Costco and there was two pallets of PS2s where nobody in the area had a PS2. I picked up two just for the hell of it.

I bought one as a 2nd grade graduation present for my son last May at the Nintendo World Store in Rockefeller Center - they get a daily shipment anywhere from 50-200 each AM. It's first come-first serve but I only had to wait about 75 minutes before the door opened @ 9:00 AM. (right next door in the courtyard is where they film the "Today" show (or whatever the NBC version is).... makes the time go by quickly....

Not sure what it's like now before the holiday though.... standard pricing as well.

Worst case, it gives you a reason to visit NYC for the holidays... :santa:

You have to buy a bunch of stuff with it but you can get one. I ordered one a few weeks back with an extra controller, remote charging station, extra games, etc.

The price of the console is the same as the normal price.
