Weight on a Jack Stand
I'm truck dumb so I need help please. I want to get my son-in-law
jack stands for christmas. I know that a truck weighs 6 to 7000 lbs, but I need to know if 2 ton jacks are sufficient for a F150, since you are only raising up one end of the truck at a time?
Thanks.........

It's kind of misleading.
While they are well within the weight limits for the truck the problem is the maximum height.
2 ton stands can only go up about 14 inches.
6 ton stands have a maximum around 21 inches.
So, even though an F-150 will never come close weight wise,
it's nice to have a bigger stand with a bigger 'footprint' that doesn't have it's neck stretched out to it's tetter-totter limit just to get the tires off the ground.

go with the 6 ton for the above reasons. I have a set of 2 tons for my car and when I had a Ranger. They worked fine but now with the F-150 they have to be fully extended to even think about getting the front tires off the ground so I had to buy some 6 ton ones.
