I used to love another Minn homegrown, The Replacements. Saw them twice here in Houston. What was it with Minn then? It was like a mini Motown with some good stuff of all generes of music.

Saw them many times and attended a few after-gig house parties where they were in attendance. They were just a tad ahead of their time -- I think of a band like Goo Goo Dolls who make similar music, but actually made a buck with it. Although, I guess "cashing in" would be very un-Replacement like.......

First time I heard Goos I thought they were a 'placements rip-off. Yeah, I think if they actually made money from their stuff would have been against some of thier own 'values'. I thought Pleased To Meet Me was going to be a breakthrough for them still.

I had read an interview stating that Paul had invested everything he had into the recording of that album and it was a make-break situation.

I can remeber the last time I saw them at Numbers, I was heckling that one of their memeber was arrested and they had a replacement Replacement. i dunno how that went at the time but it was funny, then again, it may have been drunk humor.

Yeah -- growing up in Minnesota it never dawned on me that bands like The Replacements, The Jayhawks, Husker Du, The BoDeans, etc., were not commercially successful because they were so HUGE back there.

But then after college I moved away and in most of the other places I have lived, no one has even ever heard of these bands.......

Had a few BoDeans and Hüsker Dü albums as well, I never knew they were from Minn. Who knew..

meat puppets kicked back then as well. That dude was AMAZING on guitar. Live ,their stuff was almost double speed from studio work and crystal clear on every note. I thought the studio stuff was preety well done much less the live performances.

Oops they were from Az tho...
