Private Security

Anybody in the business?

Im planning on getting on with Blackwater, Triple Canopy or Dyncorp when i get out of the military in August

Just looking for anybody that may have experience with any of those or others

Thoughts??

And by the way dont bother posting if your just going to come in and bash the private security firms, sure there has been questonable events lately. But private security is necessary and isnt going anywhere

One of my former bosses went over to Iraq to train their future "Police Officers", for Dyncorp. He works 6 , 12 Hour days a week, One year commitment, two weeks off a year. He will earn 130,000.00 TAX FREE, for a years work. He lives in a tent with 70 men. He asked me If I wanted to go, I told him they cound double that TAX FREE salary, & I would still not go! The only reason he is doing it is to pay off the house.......No thanks!!!.....

We arrested a guy that was in Blackwater he said it was the best job he had ever had. He got arrested while they were drawing up a new contract, I believe he just got out of jail last night after being a quited of all charges. Records proved he was in Iraq when the crime was committed. He said he signed up for 1 year, 6 months straight for 20k a month, 3 months off but you can chose to stay and work and earn an extra $300-$500 a day for working on your days off, then you work for 3 months normal pay due to it not being you vacation anymore. He said all that but I really didn't believe a word he said about the pay or the charges. To you, I say go for it. It's a one in a lifetime opportunity, which you'll remember for the rest of you life, and get paid well while doing it.

If you need any extra people over there to help control the situation let me know I wanna to get paid that much if it's true.

I originally thought you were talking about domestic private security firms - and I'd say forget it. Pay is terrible, that's why most "rent-a-cops" you see here are morons or old retired farts. I think you can make just as much handing out shopping carts at Wallymart.

Blackwater is pretty cool, I was over around all those guys and they all said that it was just like any other job, ya got stuff that sucks and alot of good things. I had planed on getting out of the Marines and going for the money and the extra weapons training plus it is about 35min. away from my house, where they train. I decided not to go because I know that they get picked off pretty regular and unlike the military, sometimes you cant call for backup because you are a private company. You do get to go out with special forces and the grunts sometimes, also you get sweet *** Yukons and other Suv's that are armored.

I don't know much about the subject other than what I have read or seen in the media. However, it appears that Blackwater pays quite well. Their website says that in country pay starts at $550/day for a Mobile Security Team Member.

Are you talking about America, or things that happen in Iraq because I can't tell the difference. Congressional investigations are a joke. Iraq wants them out, since when did we care what they wanted, we rule there no them. Which American company doesn't take advantage of Americans tax payers, just take a look at Wal-Mart. Frequently disobeying government regulations, really I'm not even going to get into that.

They guy was charged with a crime here in the US while in Iraq. He was released because he was able to prove that he wasn't here therefore it wasn't him that committed the crime. I'm not going to get into what he was charged with.

In case you haven't been awake since Septemeber or live under a huge rock Blackwater is being turned inside out in Congressional investigations. Iraq wants them gone.

Gotta remember that y'all aren't really in armored cars or anything, you just drive highly important people around under bad conditions and frequently disobeying government regulations. The Blackwater personnel that were killed a few months ago were under staffed in each of their vehicles, might've been able to protect themselves had they been equipped correctly.

Also, private security contractors are about to go under military control, rules are going to be changing quite a bit, soon.

Im not trying to bash you or anything, but you are very misinformed. I wont blame it on you though, ill blame it on the Media cause there the ones feeding you this garbage.

- Like Garcia said, Iraq wants them gone but nobody gives a **** what Iraq thinks
- How are they corrupt, they save the government money, taking advantage of taxpayers? I would like for you to elaborate on that one
- I assure you that they are in Armored cars, they actually have some pretty sweet up armored tahoes and suburbans. Blackwater also a leading design group in new Anti IED vehicles including their new APC (Armored Personell Carrier)

All i will say, is Blackwater is better equipped then 95% of our soldiers and even though they had a little incident a few weeks ago, THEY WILL NOT LEAVE IRAQ

Is that a question or a statement?

Blackwater just has the biggest reputation. I personally would like to work for Dyncorp, but thats just because i want to be in Afghanistan instead of Iraq. I beleive in the mission in Iraq and Afghanistan, but i think Afghanistan is a little bit more of a just cause. And I spent a lot of time sin the hills there so i know my way around pretty good.

I would say there are better options, but it really depends on what you want. Blackwater kind of sets the bar, they are actually very competetive in there hiring process, if you actually want to be on the PSD (personell security detail) side of things you have to be Ex Ranger, Special Forces, SEALS, USMC Recon, or Air Force CCT, PJ

There not just hiring dudes that dont know what here doing. And also they provide some of the best tactical training in the world. Blackwater is now responsible for training our Navy Seals.

But like i said, i am leaning toward Dyncorp so i can work more of the Afghanistan mission. Stuff like poppy eradication teams working with the DEA and stuff.
