Another gun thread

Well with all of the gun talk going on in here lately I decided that I should purchase a new pistol.

Its a Springfield Armory XD Service Model 9mm.

I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet, weather permitting I'll pump several rounds through this weekend.

So far I love the feel and the features of it and can't wait to give a shot as I have yet to hear anything bad about them!

Got at the Indy1500 gun and knife show. Picked it up for $425. Can't wait till this weekend to do some bow hunting, site in the muzzle loader, and shoot the XD!! Should be a fun filled busy weekend

people don't buy a car without a test drive so why buy a gun without shooting it first.
It is a nice pistol though.

Dont lie, he told me it was actually outside the Indy1500 Gun and knife show from a guy in a trench coat and it was only $150.... He knows it's been reblued becasue the serial number has been filed off........

I have never test drove any gun.
Unless you count the ones I shoot of friends and then go buy or trade for that model.

I'm not married to it, if I get it home and don't like it, It's still worht the exact same price I paid for it. So I can get rid of it, sell it or trade it for another and not be out a dime..... most of the time I'll make money.

dkStone05, nice XD. I have the .45 tactical and love it. The original XD's below .45 had a less than "Glock" caliber finish coating and there were complaints but the whole XD line went to the tough finish a while back.

I usually buy from a small local guy and he has never steered me in the wrong direction and he said they are pretty nice guns. This time I bought at the show after doing some research and talking to various people so I was comfortable buying without the test drive. If for some reason I don't like it I can always sale or trade with losing little to no money. Especially since I think that most of these go for close to $475-$500 unless you can talk them down some(could be wrong on prices, I didn't research price much, the functionality and how the gun felt in my hand was more of a concern).

I heard that too but I think that they changed the finish on all of the news one though. I believe it was the slide was starting to rust on the early ones but now I think they switch to the same coating as the Glocks on all of the new ones. I'll have to look into this some more to get all of the details. There was a magazine that put these through the same toucher test as the Glocks and they passed with flying colors.

I'll get to compare this side by side to my father's glock this weekend. So far this gun seems to feel better than I remember the Glock feeling. And the single action seems more smooth as well compared to the double action of the Glock.

dkstone05, yes all XD's now have a finish comparable to what Glock uses though I don't think it's exactly the same stuff. The XD did pass the torture test and be sure that is a tough gun. I take mine along on most offshore trips and it shows no I'll affects from the nasty salt water environment. There's no question that a Glock is an excellent piece of hardware IF you like the way they feel in your hand and the trigger. For me, the XD has the same quality with better feel.

Right now I own a Remington model 710 .243, a mossburg .270, some random .22, and a remington model ?? 7mm. Being the only guns I own, I would say I like my .243 and .22 most for range shooting and the .243 for being the best all around gun I own. It is very accurate(as well as the .270) but has less recoil than the .270 and the ammo is about the same price. Also if you are looking for a cheap range gun go to a pawn shop and find an SKS. It shoots the same rounds as a AK-47 and AK-74 I believe and rounds can be found for as cheap as $4 for 20 rounds at sports stores. My dad has one and paid just over $100 for his.

Nice 9mm. Personally, I would choose a .45... I'm biased though. I can honestly say I've seen someone take 3 9mil rounds center mass and not even take a knee! Then again, he was a lil "out of it" to begin with.

Just notch the tips and all will be fine!
