Privacy and so they don't get followed around by fans or unhappy people.

I wouldn't want to have to change my license plate just because a whole bunch of people saw it.... it's a pita.

Because they're dumb. There's absolutely NOTHING you can do with a license plate unless you're a cop, and even then I am sure the patrol sargeant would want to know why you're running plates from other states with frequency. Seriously, it's stupid to cover up the plate.

For less than $10, I can submit paperwork here in Nebraska to get driver info from a license plate.

Same in Maryland. License info is public informtaion unless you specifically ask for it to be blocked.

Because then anyone can find out who you are and all the crap that comes with it. Some people don't want random people knowing who they are or where they live that matter. You gotta remember how many CRAZY *** people live in this country.

Because of theft. A license plate can lead to alot of things. Some of you might not understand that but I work in IT all day long and the things that can be done on computers are unbeleivable to some ppl.

The more information you can get about someone, the easier it will be to get more information you can get about that person. Start with a name, address, driver license number, and you will be able to get more and more info.

I kind of see a point in it but it seems like a silly futile attempt. It's not like your license plate is hidden from the public the rest of the time. The internet isn't the only place you find crazy people and scammers.
Maybe these people should black out their actual plate and then see if a cop is sympathetic when they say they're just trying to avoid stalkers and identity theft.

I wonder then why so many people leave their registration and insurance papers in their glove compartment. There's plenty of info on those two items and if you forget to lock your doors just once it can be gone in a flash.

People have their own comfort level and if that's what they want to do why bring it up and chastise them about it?

Some people block out their plate number and some people buy extended warranties.
