I used to have a 1979 F-250 with a rack that would hold two quad's ON TOP of the bed rails. No problem loading them.
If I remember right a yamaha 450 is an automatic and shouldn't have a manual clutch, they are belt drive (no gears). I have never spun a tire on a metal atv ramp, must have been homemade.

Could have been bald tires.

What kind of quad??? 4x4 or sport??? If it is a 4x4 than use a winch on the front of the quad and drag it up in to the bed, it shouldnt matter how steep the ramp is. If it is a sport than just 12 o'clock the sumbich and set the front tires on the gate. Than get around back and hoist her up there SALLY!!!!!

You don't need ramps... I'm only 5'10'' 145 pounds and I can put my YFZ450 in the back of my truck by myself.

My dad had to buy new ramps when he bought his kodiak. The short ones 6feet were perfect for his 04 2wd F150. Since the Kodi can fit in my bed with the tailgate closed we usally do that and the 6feet ramps are to steep I don't know how many times I have or my dad wheelied up the ramps into the bed. So he went and bought 8feet ramps there not as strong as the 6feet ones because they are so long it bends in the middle when you are loading it. However mine can't fit in the back of my truck nor in the back of my dads. So on the trailer she goes where it squeezes in to. Like everyone said if its 4wd and has a winch, winch that ***** onto the truck that how we load my dads or mine when they break out riding. If its a sport quad do like everyone else said put the front tires up on there then pick it up the back in and slide it in.

I agree with a few of the guys above me, if its a sport, just pick the fron wheels up and put them on the tailgate then grab the *** end of the four wheeler and toss it up there.

I did it all the time with my YFZ 450 into the stock FX4, i guess well find out how hard it is when i get back and try it into the lifted one

I DONT TRUST THOSE RAMPS, seen them fail way to many times

Or sit the back tires on then lift the front and push it in. The back is heavier any way so that gets the hard part out of the way first and you dont have to carry the heavy end as long either.
Then to unload, gas that **** and pull up to ride her out of there.

If you want to know the easiest way to do something, watch the laziest man do it.

It was a YFZ 450. Not a Kodiak 450, Grizzly 450 or a Wolverine 450.

Manual clutch, 5-speed manual transmission (no belt on that badboy).
Next time, do your homework so that you dont look like a fool.

Id like to see some of you "Sallys" try to muscle your sport quads into the back of your trucks after a day of riding where I used to ride.
After a few hours of riding flat out, blitzing the whoops, roosting out of the corners and hit 90' jumps (4th gear pinned in order to clear them), I highly doubt ANY of you would be talking so big.
I personally never trusted the ramps either, but you cant be afraid of it.

Drink a beer and eat a samwitch, take a 30 min break before pulling out.
If your that physicaly wiped out, then you shouldn;t be driving anyway, it's worse and more dangerous than driving while intoxicated.

Uhhh, rode on a track one day for about 4 hours straight, i was so tired and fatigued that i could barely hold my head up, but yet i still was able to muster the power to lift it into my truck..........It can be done, sure its a pain in the ***, put your not gonna mess your truck up with ramps that slip off or something..........

Hell if your at a track, just back your truck up to one of the jumps and drive right into the bed..........

Unless your out in some frozen tundra or a desert somewhere there will surely be some elevation you can back your truck up to and drive right in

I use the ramps. They were made by a local aluminum welding shop and are 7 feet long. The deck is Shur-grip aluminum grating and your tires won't slip on that stuff. I load drive my 4 wheeler up no problem with a short run to build a little momentum and I just walk the bikes up. They work great and it's alot easier than lifting the gear in.

Stock photo:

Specs:

Ramp solidly secures on tailgate or trailer.
Easy to handle.
Only weigh 20 lbs. each.
Built to last with rust-free aluminum.
Will withstand the chronic abuse of heavy weight and nasty elements (made with heavy-duty shur-grip construction).
Will support the weight of any quad (1000 lbs. distribution load capacity for each ramp).

Good luck.
