how long has this thing been out? It actually looks really cool for a GOOD price. I got a year left on my zune before im tossing it. Only because i have the full replacement best buy warranty and can keep exchanging as many times as i want. I was confused when i saw this in the ipod section, i thought it was just the iphone. From what it looks like, its everything but the phone, which is exactly what i want. i think it would depend on the price n other things, like if you get charged for things on the phone you wouldnt on the touch...

 

Its been out for about a month or so. Its basically an IPhone without the phone.

 

hmm interesting. My dad says to me if youre gonna go half way and the price of the iphone is at 500 only 200 more than this touch, go for the phone, but i REALLY dont want a plan as i really dont use my phone that much, only emergencies and texting occasionally, thats why im on Virgin mobile prepaid. If this thing dropped to maybe 250 or 300 for the larger memory, i think id jump on this.

 

They just released an 80 gb classic IPOD for cheaper than the 8gb IPod touch. Go to www.apple.com and look at them.

 

see theres no way in hell i need 80 gigs lol. I have a 30 gig zune and i only have 1000 songs(which is basically all i want on there, as i download more, sure more goes on there, but theres lot of songs i dont listen to anymore on there). 8 gigs i think holds about 2000 songs. This touch looks SO nice tho, im gonna have to check this one out next week. Im wondering if best buy is going to screw me when the gen 2 zunes come out. I have full replacement which is they hand me a new zune no questions asked. Mines 30 gig, as all Gen1s are, the gen 2 is either gonna be 8(?) or 80 gigs. No 30. Im sure they wont be the same price i paid. Maybe if i bitch enough n start a fight theyll give me my money back towards an ipod

The Gen 2 Zunes will be out next month from what I have heard. There will be a 4gb 8gb and 80 gb model. With some new colors to. I have had a few Ipods, I have a 30 gb video Ipod now. So I think I might pick up one of these new Zunes when they come out.

 

if theyre willing to swap my 30 for a gen 2 80 gig (which ichecked out on the zune site, same thing just different outside) ill give it a try. Im on my 4th zune and it hasnt been a year yet. I got mine in april i think of last year, and this is my 4th, got a black one, replaced it for another black, then went to a white one and another white one. The battery was **** on both black ones. The battery is barely better on the white ones, but both white ones have BAD drives in em. If you move the menu around a lot they start vibrating which is a bad sign for anything with a drive in it. Not to mention the white one was locking up bad and freezing n shuttin off for no reason. This white one doesnt freeze, locks up for a few seconds once in a while, and still vibes which is not good. Only reason i havent replaced it is cuz i dont feel like seein the woman i see EVERY time i replace mine. I dont want her to think im bull****tin and start questioning me.

 

Damn. That sucks you are having so many problems. I bought my father in law one last Christmas, and his has been perfect. It was a brown one though, so maybe that is the difference!! But honestly, his has been great. Hopefully other people have been having the same problems as you, and its something that have fixed on the new gen Zunes...

 

i just got one and they are awesome. The only thing you have to do to it is a program called jailbreak. when you get the ipod it only has a couple of apps. on it for calendar, safari internet, youtube and a calculator. with jailbreak you can install all the third party apps that are made for the iphone such as games, a calendar you can modify, and tons of other stuff.

im deffinatly looking into getting a 16 gig touch, i just wish it had more memory, i have 10 gigs on my 30gig video ipod

 

awesome dude. Now only if this warranty would disapear on the zune i need an excuse to look at these ipods.. :o I still have the classic in mind, but 80gig being the smallest, i will NEVER use that much, doubt i will ever go past 10 gigs of storage. I wouldnt worry about the breaker. I have a feeling that would void the warranty if they found out. Is this thing thinner than the iphone? It looks like it in the pics, but i cant recall how thin the iphone is.. Still, i really want one now


edit : plus i wouldnt be too big on movies on it or anything. Id maybe put on a few tv shows, id make sure theyre compressed real well. Im a little scarred from the zune and its video playing so id probably stay away from it on the ipod. i feel if i watch video on my zune for 3 minutes the battery will drain halfway now.

I have one (Touch), but hate the small 16GB storage. With all my music and TV shows, it's way to small. So it's sitting in the box. I have the 160GB model now. I'm sure Apple will release a new version of the Touch with more storage. I am patiently waiting. And for what it's worth, that thing is awesome!

 

I am looking into getting an 80 gig classic and buying a DVD converter, imo the touch doesn't have enough memory yet. It would be great if they offered maybe a 60 gig model. I really like the wifi and stuff on it though.
