DRIVING...a privledge, or right?

I know that the law states that driving is a privledge. I believe that it is a right. With that said, I believe that certain rights can be taken away. What do yall think?

I think you've been staring at the Sonic girls' shorts a little too much.

Driving should never be a right. Voting, yeah. Free speech, yeah. Driving 3 tons of metal and plastic around at 70mph. No. Hell, no.

Then again, I believe that all children should be (reversibly) neutered at birth, and they should have to pass certain guidelines to breed... but that's just me.

ha ha ha!!! i was expecting this. i think priviledge. and i'll tell you why. a priviledge is something given or earned. perhaps the "right" to do_____. this priviledge can be given, if you reach a certain age, and pass a test. also it can be taken away because of failure to follow the law governing such a priviledge.

on a side note i do believe that rights can be taken away.

I agree with the three tons...Under a half ton, not so sure if it should not be a right.

Well, the sonic girl line did make me chuckle a bit, until I realized that no one under the age of 17 works at a sonic (except for the manager).

But yes, certain rights can and are taken away every day. Commit a felony and see how many rights you have left...

You lose the right to bear arms if you are a felon.
You lose the right to vote if you are in prison.
You lose the right of freedom of movement if you are convicted and jailed.
A convicted pedophile cannot be around children.

Rights such as these are taken away everyday. Do you still think rights should not be revoked?

a privelege. My dumbass governor is giving all ilegal aliens the ability to gain a license for driving soon. The state legislature better stop this.. Illegal aliens have no rights.

I don't believe anyone mentioned that rights should not be revoked.

Just an observation.

Illegals have the right to be shipped back to wherever the heck they came from. Other than that, they "should" have the right to work out on the county farm picking lettuce and strawberries for free.

Several court cases have declared that driving for non-profit purpurses is indeed a right.
If driving was a privilege the government could take away licenses without any due reason.

It is far too dangerous to allow the government to treat essential
activities as privileges, revocable at the whim of government. It
allows the government to take away even our enumerated rights, through
the simple expedient of making a waiver of those rights a condition of
getting the license to do the essential activity. We already see this
with so-called implied consent laws which waive the Fourth Amendment
right against unreasonable search and seizure in drunk driving cases.

Yes, I even think drunks have a right against unreasonable search and seizure in drunk driving cases.
