I've been on 2nd shift 1:30 p.m -10: p.m. for over 4 years and was only able to see my wife and kids in the morning before they went off to school.
This is going to be a major life change, I'll be able to spend ALOT more time with my family!!!Wahoo!!!!!

Cool. I bet you're stoked!

I just started 2nd shift this June after my first 5 years being on first shift. It was a major change as well. I have incentive to stay 2nd though, they topped me out in my labor grade pay scale and gave me set-up pay as well as shift diferential pay, but if I change shifts I regress back to what I would have been making plus progression raises. Once I get some money saved up I'm going back first. I have enough seniority to hold days.

BTW, they moved the first STOVL F35 test plane out of mate and it's now on the rolling assembly line, a major accomplishment. I've put a lot of work into that plane.

Right on Stealth, I'll miss the extra $0.75 for 2nd shift, other than that I'm maxed as a grade#8 anyway so that's my only regret, The time with family is well worth it though

I can find pics through the JSF site, any others you can recommend?

There's lots of the x35 prototype, the same shape, but the ones we're making are lighter structurally. Google F 35.

X 35 prototype.

First CTOL F 35.

Damn right it is....

$0.75 on 40 hours is only $30 before uncle same takes his share. About $22.50 net take home. $90 a month or $1080 a year.....

Family is worth alot more than a measely $1080 a year to me.....

Congratulations!

Congrats! Spending time with the family is always nice. I only see my husband 3-4 days a week these days. He works from 6pm to 4am, 4 days a week. I work from 1:30pm to 8:30pm 3 days a week. He gets home at 4, I'm already asleep; when I head to work he's usually still sleeping. When I get home from work, he's gone. My boss has been terrific, she's tried to give me the same days off that he has so we at least get to spend some time together!!
