Huricane 6.2L

Has anyone heard any news about this for '09 model year (avail. summer '08)? I was reading a small article earlier that a 5.8 and a 6.2L were in the works, and Dearborne already put in an order for several thousand of these to start being made. I'm buying an '08 in the next few weeks, but gawd...if I could just wait a bit under ayear for a freakin 6.2L! But I can't wait. I guess it would also be good to wait a year or two to see how it holds up, and if it will rival the Hemi and the Avalache big motors. Meh, maybe get the '08 and trade up in 2 or 3 years

I've heard good things like an engine will be available, 400hp'ish, like 425 and 6.2L has been a number. Also heard was the name BOSS floating around. 2009 ought to be a good year.

If FORD is to remain a leader in the truck segment, they had better have these engines available, if they are to survive the ever competitive truck wars!.............

anyone heard anymore on the baby Powerstroke for the F150?
I think it was slated to be in 09 as well.

Kinda scary actually, thats alot of new motors for one year.....
If they do all of those then the enevitbale problems that always arise in first year producitons may cause an overall bad rep. for the Ford Co.

I am pretty sure that the diesel is not going to be made by international, so it will not be a powerstroke. It will how ever be a 4.4 L if the rumors are true. I also think I read most of these engines will not be available in the truck when it launches.

Its the nature of the beast. Everything will have a problem at first. I am willing to work with ford or any company when they first produce something.

I don't think there should be a problem with these new motors, from what I hear it's a larger displacement and higher hp/tq design of whats out now. The diesel is modeled after something in the Land Rover line I hear too, which means it again is only new to the truck itself.

Considering the F-150 has pretty much the best, if not the best design package, the power is the only thing I see needing improvement. If they dominate there, what's stopping people from buying them now? The only reasons people I talk to buy others is because they wanted more power. They get a Hemi and stop for gas every day. Chevy has a car motor in a truck and I'd hate to be beaten by a Tundra. When that day comes, I will be in serious debt making damn sure that doesn't happen twice

Most on this site would be, but just like the "Toyota's tailgates are failing fast! falling off, cheep, denting..etc." thread, we are bashing them for thier tailgates.
All the ones that would go sell thier Dodge/Toyota what ever for teh new faster Ford, and instead of having to stop and get gas every day, then they are going to be in the shop one week a month for a while. They would be teh ones to say that selling thier ________ for the Ford was the worst thing they'd done. The rule, 3-11 applies, Someone has a good experince they tell 3 people, someone has a bad experince, they tell 11 people. So obviobsly a few problems spread alot faster than several good things.

Word is the new engines will be OHV and not OHC. There also maybe a 6.4L to go along with the 5.8L & 6.2L.

B.S. They will not go away from OHC. that design has the best posibilities. OHV are very limited because of the intrusion of the push rods into the intake path. Even gm (God's mistake) will have to go to OHC eventually when the greeners take control of every thing.

Never heard that one before

I don't see Ford going away from OHC, they have put alot of money into that platform. I don't know about GM but what they have now is working damn good with the LSX series of motors and I don't seem them changing anytime soon.

the modular v-8 started production in 1992, i think that after a 15 year run they would scrap it if something better, more powerful and easy to package came along. i remember seeing a roush developed car that had a mystery engine in it that some thought was the new v-8, it was not a ohc.
