I love these Ford union worker bashers! Do you relies that they only make up 8-9% of the cost of a car! Its the big guys at the top with there bonuses and other incentives the really add to the cost of the car.
It is great that Ford is producing a better quality car. But i think when some peeps, but not all buy a Ford. They run it into the ground and do very little maintenance. But the Honda and Toyota buyers will do regular maintenance and oil change religiously. Also they will not say nothing about all the problems they have with a car but if its a Ford they would be screaming it from the roof tops. I have owned Fords and find them just as reliable as the imports.
So if you want to export your jobs to other country's just keep buying them imports. Look around you. The Chinese support there country even when they live here, so why cant we support ours. Support your fellow workers and countrymen. Buy North American.

Just a thought.

Let the flaming begin. LOL.

I have no problem with people who call it as it actually is. My post was based on the trolls that come around singing the praises of the Tundra just because its a Toyota and bash the Ford just because its domestic. I agree completely about perceieved quality and have been saying that for years, but things have changed and the American buying public needs to open our eyes, take notice and appraciate the effort. Now we can support the domestics, keep the cash here and still have the looks and quality we demand

Excellent post and I completely agree. There are a few guys who drive Toyota’s where I work and at times we have good conversations. I have known a few people with domestic, not just Ford, who have had a few issues. I have never really had any issues, nothing major but have always complained about how Ford’s service at dealerships in no where up to par where I think it should be.

That’s not to say Ford is the only bad one, or that Toyota’s is great. I have no idea and none of the rest matter to me since I have always purchased Ford’s. All I ask for is that every time I bring my vehicle in for service it is treated with respect. That means the person getting in is clean, when they bring it out of the bay it is just as clean, no grease or oil marks on the steering wheel or door handles, no grease palm and finger prints anywhere to be found on the exterior of the vehicle. Is that to much to ask for? The answer is absolutely not because I never leave any of those kinds of marks on my truck when I service it myself and therefore expect, actually demand, that Ford’s service technicians do the same…

This is what the Fusion was all about, it was to show that a domestic manufacturer can build a quality vehicle without the high end price. On the other side though as Toyota takes over more and more of the market their quality is starting to suffer. They're becoming victims of their own success.

My truck makes my last Ford car (87 Taurus) look like a piece of crap. The only thing that pisses me off about my truck is that damn internal clutch slave cylinder.

As an added note, CR, which I can not stand, finally has some good news about the domestic brands, especially Ford. And some bad news on foreign, especilally Toyota.
They also state tht in the past the gave Toyota above average ratings without any input from the consumers. About time they admit it.

In the past, because Toyota (Charts) products have so consistently proved reliable, the magazine would assume at least average reliability for Toyota's brand new cars, without waiting for survey data from owners.

P.S. - They do not recommend you purchase a V8 Tundra. Too many problems.
