College Degree Survey
1. BS - Geology (Environmental Emphasis)
2. BS - Geography (Hydrology Emphasis)
--Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) Accreditation
--Geologist In Training (GIT) Accreditation
--Asbestos Abatement Supervisor & Asbestos Inspector (multiple states)
--Certified Lead Inspector (Missouri)
--Sitting for my Professional Geologist (PG) exam (ASBOG) early next year
I work with an environmental consulting firm. My primary job focus is subsurface site assessment (soils and groundwater). Sole clients include a couple of Fortune 100 companies and oodles upon oodles of smaller companies (including developers, small gas station owners, banks, small industry, etc). I also multi-task in the compliance arena (air, hazardous waste, wastewater, etc) and co-manage a 'substantial' contract with a Fortune '10' company at a 1000-acre manufacturing facility.
Anyone need environmental help?
So, yes. I'm using my degree (every day, in fact).

Don't you also hold the title of SCT? (Swingline Certified Technician)
BS Geology
--PG (Pennsylvainia)
--PG (Kentucky)
--Subsurface Investigators License (NJ)
I work for a large environmental company and do subsurface site assesments (environmental work) as well as geotechnical engineering. I am currently working on a tunneling job for a water plant in NYC.
I started out as a Petroleum Geologist, but that took a dump in the early 80's. I have been doing enviromental stuff for almost 25 years now, but lately, I do more of the geotechnical stuff.
I miss environmental work and will go back to doing it someday with another company. The large company I work for is moving away from this type of work. For now, this pays the bills and my bosses don't bother me too much.
So I am working in my degree but a different aspect that I studied for .

1) BS in IT
2) NEVER us it. I work for an Engineering company. I do structural design testing and materials testing on construction sites. I havent used it once since I have been out of college. The degree was sort of a waste of time, but being at college was sure worth it!!

1) BSBA Business Administration, University of West Florida
2) Yes, and no.
I am a commercial real estate appraiser, so there are some facets of my education that I use on a day-to-day basis, such as communication skills, computing, and financial calculations. I am essentially an Independent Contractor, although I work for a commercial appraisal firm. I plan on earning my Certified General Appraiser's license after I put my time in (30 months), and in the state of Florida, starting in Jan '08, it will be required for anyone seeking Certified General status to possess a Bachelor's Degree. So, I'm in already
I guess I got a late start because I graduated college in '03, and could not find a job (other than hospitality/foodservice) until Jan '07. Better late than never! (I graduated High School in '89)

BS in Political Science...
I sell medical lab equipment. It tests your blood using chemiluminescence spectrometry. The test include PSA, free PSA, FT4, Tsh, Testosterone, and quantitative Hcg. Whats sad is that I had to spell check all these words.
