Ever Been Stuck in the Mud Bad?

Who else has been Stuck Helplessly in the Mud?

I tried pulling this stuck F150 out of the mud this afternoon, only to get stuck myself.
The photo was taken from my camera phone, so it's not that good, but you can get the idea.

There's a small made-made lake, with a thin strip of land going halfway across it.
I didn't know the guy, just stumbled onto him and tried to pull him out, but I got stuck myself.

Wifey was with me and of course I get my *** chewed out for trying to be the hero.
So now I'm stuck, plus I'm getting an ***-reaming for being so stupid and helping a stranger and "blah blah blah"

I backed up to him and then I sunk like a rock. It;'s the first time in my life 4-LOW didn't make any difference, it felt like the truck was in neutral.

I called my brother and he came by in his F350 and pulled us both out at the same time.
Now my truck rides like crap. It was nice and smooth before, now it's rough and vibrates like a ****. Can this cause it to go out of alignment? Or could it be mud still stuck in the tries causing it? I pressure washed the mud off it right after, but the ride is awful now.

I'm not an off-roader, but have pulled friends out in the past, but it's never made my truck to ride like crap after.
What do you think it could be?

Regards
Habibi

You have mud caked in your wheels. This is causing your tires to be unbalanced thus causing the shakes. If you don't have a power washer head to the car wash.

Yep. You'll want to take care of that ASAP or you can damage steering/suspension parts and cause irregular tire wear. Your truck should be fine. Oh and to answer your question, I've been stuck longer (combined) than most people have spent off roading.

4L does not increase your traction, if anything in the soupy stuff it will help you get stuck faster. That said I would have been in 4l also because you were towing. When traction is so limited you have to use the weight and momentum of your truck. A good ****** strap would have allowed you to get some slack in the line then hit him with a bit of momentum hoopefully pulling him out. That or really good muc tires were about your only hope in a situation like that.

You have the most traction right before you slip, so if it will help your engine get up in its powerband so you can just ease into it 4lo will help, I do this quite abit in my Ranger. Judging by the strap it doesn't look like he got to pull on the other F-150 anyway, just backed in and sunk. Turning your steering wheel side to side might of helped too, but you could have ended up in the pond if it caught something good, that is really a pretty bad place to get stuck as far as options go.

That truck is a 6.0 Powerstroke. And you haven't been stuck in mud til you're 16 and bury your mother's Jeep up to the doors in mud... :o

Habbibibibibibi, start with cleaning your whole truck, especially the wheels really well.

I'd have to say that you've never been stuck until you've taken an Amtrac and gotten it stuck up to the bow plane, with a screaming SSgt, and screaming butter bar Lt.

For reference, the bow plane is the thing sticking up at 45* in front ~6' high (or deep in this case).

"Ssgt, I went where you told me to go!" was my reply.

Thanks for the helpful replies everyone.
Nice pic UC, that looks nasty man.

Good tip about the weights Green, as a matter of fact, I just had a front end alignment and all the wheels balanced on the fancy balancer at the stealership. I'll have to look if anything fell off. I will start with cleaning the mud off the inside of the rims. (I hope I don't have to get all that done again)

I only washed where I could see, so that's a excellent suggestions also. (Thanks Kevin)

02, jiggle, zair, scott ... thx.

Turbo, I would love to take one of those babies for a spin.

Regards All
