She May Have To Go

Well I've been debating for weeks now wether or not to get rid of my truck. I've been at my new job 4 months now and the gas is killing me. I drive 53 miles each way to work. I'm spending anywhere from 120 to 150 a week on gas. I have to keep this job because jobs are scarce around here. I don't have a college education so this job is really the best thing for me. The problem is now what do I do about my truck? I just bought a motorcycle, but don't wanna ride that to work everyday. I think I should trade my truck in for a car, cause a third vehicle really isn't an option for me. I was thinking a Fusion, but don't know how good they are. Also don't know if I can go back to driving a four cylinder car. I haven't driven a four banger since highschool. I'm confused. I really would prefer a 6cy, but my wife doen't think we should spend much money. I don't know what to do cause I don't want something used, cause I'll be putting too many miles on it to buy something with 30k or 40k on it to begin with. So should I get a new four banger or a used 6cy. What do you guys think?

i'd buy used for sure

a new car is a depreciating purchase, and there are plenty of cars around that will go over 200k if properly maintained

Buy a beater. Keep the truck. That would seem more financially viable to me.

The third vehicle is out of the question. I just simply don't have the room for it. Moving yeah maybe in the long run, when I don't have to take a loss selling my house. In the meantime I don't know wether to get a four cylinder or not. This may sound stupid but, there is just something "unmanly" about driving a four cylinder car.

There is something unmanly about driving any car.

When was the last time you heard someone say "that's a chicks truck" but you always hear people talking about "chicks cars"

I think there are many here that would say driving anything with less than 8 cylinders is unmanly.

And there are also many who would say that's the most stupid and childish thing I've ever heard. My primary vehicle has 2 cylinders, does that mean I'm 1/4th the man?

Not really, because your bike would most likely beat the crap out of your average vehicle with a V8. See, there is a balance between muscle and speed. I can overlook the fact that a car may only have 4 cylinders if it can beat, for instance, a Trans Am. Oh and this rule only goes for domestics. Any "man" who drives a ricer should be catsrated.

Get a motorcycle. Better MPGs than any car, cheaper by a long shot, should be cheaper insurance, and you'll look hella cool and actually enjoy commuting.

Granted bikes are not for everyone... but try it. I went from $320/mo in gas to about $80. The bike almost pays for itself.

Yeah how about a nice cheap crotch rocket. You would save the space and not be spending nearly as much in gas.
