Car Wash Rules

I went to my local car wash today to do a thorough cleaning of my truck... I took my bed liner + tonneau cover out along with all my tools, and stuff, which is a real PITA. So I go to the car wash, and I notice that they put up some new signs. Well, basically you can't:

- Wash your engine.
- Wash excessive mud.
- No Contractors, Painters, Masonary workers allowed.
- Wash truck beds.
- Wash your underbody.

So guess what I did? I washed my truck bed, my underbody and I'm a contractor. Why? It is cleaner than the body and I didn't care that I am a contractor because I paid the carwash $25 for ME to wash MY truck.

Oooohh, I'm soooo scared, the car wash people are going to beat me up.

I did like that one with the "No Contractors, Painters, Masonary workers allowed." I'm a contractor...

I don't get the point of those signs... why do they NOT allow those activities?!

Maybe....

it has to do with the fact that whenever I pull into one, there are piles of mud covering the grate in the ground. A lot of times there are contractors fresh off a job site rinsing the mud off their trucks. I am not sure how those systems work, but I would imagine it's not easy dealing with mud clogging things up. I would also think that some of the newer ones recycle some of the water but I might be wrong.

How in the world did you spend $25.00 on a self service car wash. That is crazy.

You must go to the car wash I use. I'm sure you drive all the way from MO to wash your truck lol.

I spent like 45 minutes in there... I don't wash my truck at home no more because I took the paint off with my 5000 PSI I/C pressure washer. Not to mention I bent the fins on my A/C condenser on my truck.

Why did it take so long? Because I had gunk caked on my truck for like 4+ months... even gunk that my last washing didn't take care of because I got scared when I started removing the paint off my truck. I actually think I forgot to wash 1/2 of it. :o

A lot of car washes filter and recycle the wash water. Using it to clean your engine or undercarriage puts grease in the water that the filters can't handle. The ban on excess mud/painters/masonry workers etc...is basically the same thing. Mud and debris from work trucks will clog filters and make the water unusable for future customers. I don't use my local car wash anymore because the water always leaves a residue on my truck from poor maintenance of their filtration system.

Nice... I'm using someone else's dirty water on my truck. Maybe next time I'll select Rinse and fill up a couple jugs of water and bring it home and consume it.

Wash, yes, you are using someone else's water, (supposedly filtered and cleaned) that's why they are so picky about what you wash in the first place. Most of them use clean water for the rinse cycle. Doesn't help much if there is already grease and gunk on there from a dirty filter but those are the chances you take at a car wash.

thats right stick it to the man!! Thats where I go right after mud riding. I did get a dirty look from a attendent when he was cleaning the bays. So I quickly turned around and went to another one. I don't care I will continue to go to them after wheeling.

There's actually a little rentention pond right next to our local car wash. We'll go there and rip the field up for a half hour or so, then go straight to the car wash. What makes it funnier is there's a trail of mud started at a torn up field, running across the parking lot, and ending at the car wash which is now also covered with mud. It's best to get like 4 or 5 people and get all the bays filthy, that way anybody who tries to use it after will most likely leave dirtier than they came.

Jesus, get a life. If you can't understand why they don't want you doing that crap than you're hopeless.

It's truly amazing that natural selection hasn't killed you yet.

I understood why...

I just didn't know for what purpose.

Eh, Thumper.... ever wonder about things around you? How they get made? Ever ask questions? More importantly, keeping your mind open to learn about how the world goes round with stuff, can really make you more educated.

And remember.. NO question is a stupid question, regardless of who it is.

I've asked questions that will boggle the human mind, as to why in the heck did he ask that question, as it might be a simple one or one that is very difficult... and I'm sure you've done the same.

At any rate, what I'm trying to point out here is that if you don't like my questions, then don't respond to them with negativity. Especially directly at the quantitive reasoning level of the question. There is NO dumb, stupid, or insignificant question.

Hmm, lets see

- Wash your engine.
- Wash excessive mud.
- No Contractors, Painters, Masonary workers allowed.
- Wash truck beds.
- Wash your underbody.

These are all very self explanitory I think. How much simpiler do you want it to get??? It's kinda like sayin Hey, I dont swim in your toilet so dont pee in my pool. I'm gonna be a jerk and say it. People like you are the reason coffee cups now have a "HOT" warning on them. J/K man. but seriously WTF were you thinking when you washed your ride with 5000PSI pressure washer?
