Uh, no. VTEC is Honda's name for Variable Valve Timing. Toyota calls it VVT-i, Nissan CVTCS. It is not actually a performance booster, it's just valves that stay open longer the more RPM's you apply. You can't "rev it all the way to VTEC."

Oh, and VTEC stands for Variable Timing Engine Control. It is just a brand name for the same thing other cars have. Hell, my Accord had VTEC...

Out of curiosity, what do you do for Honda? I work in the motorcycle division of American Honda.
I was impressed by the "resistance to stalling", and the torque is impressive for a I4 that is built for high rpm's. Although they do make only 139lb.ft of torque all the way at 6100rpm.

The whole VTEC thing was a joke , actually alot of my post was. All of the current Honda auto engines are VTEC or iVTEC. A lot of ricers come in and brag about their VTEC, and how fast it is. I offer them a drag race vs my quad, and then I mention I have a 1/4 of their cars hp. The only ones that are just factory FAST, are the S2K's.

Ive been training to be a tech at a Honda dealership while I've been in school getting my certificates. Yes, I know what variable valve timing is, and I know Honda isn't the only one with it .

Sad part is, that quad will smoke a Chevy. Even a Duramax...

To the OP, pull up those pants. Sheesh...

op = original poster

I feel ashamed that I don't have any kills in my truck...or my car...yeah, not so much.

the OP's story is kinda like a track star challenging a fat tub of lard with a gimpy leg. the outcome is enevitable. and then when the tub of lard wins (because the other car didn't realize they were "racing", he's gotta tell everyone because he bucked the odds.

There isn't even any skin showing . I did relize after the picture was taken that my shorts were a little low , Thanks.

You probably shouldn't spoon with a meat cleaver.
