So according to you... instead of eating the rice that is grown and processed here in the US we should buy the beans that are being shipped here accross the border?

Your looking at the small picture... So what... it is made here to save Toyota money on importing the finished product. The profits, and Toyota is the most profitiable manufacturer, all go back to Japan to helps its economy now ours.
So you're saying all the profits goes back to Japan? Who pays the workers here in America? Who pays the companies that supply the parts? Who pays the workers that make the parts for the supply company? Ect. ect. When the company makes a big profit, it benefits the shareholders also. You wanna peice of that profit, go buy Toyota stock...its not exclusively only available to the Japanese people ya know?
Building the car here using US parts suppliers creates American jobs and is reinvested into the economy because the workers and the companies will spend the money HERE, not in Mexico or Canada or whatever.
The Fusion has only 30 percent US part content and is made in Mexico. Basically 70 percent of the Fusion is from imported parts, from OTHER countries, somebody has to make the parts so basically Ford is creating jobs for other people in other countries and hiring Mexican workers to build them. What economy are they helping? Certainly not the US.
If Ford and GM cared so much about America then they should build ALL their cars here, with 100 percent US content...then they can truely claim they are 100 percent American backed. Obviously its all about $$$, and its cheaper to make parts in Mexico and have them assembled over there for cheaper labor.

13.2 Billion is the number that will help the American economy, not the small amount given to the workers to assemble the trucks. The F-150 has a higher U.S. parts content than any other truck on the road, so my purchase not only supported the American worker but also the American economy.

When it comes time to buy a new truck, I'll test drive everything that meets my needs and my price range. Ford, Chevy, Dodge, and Toyota (or whatever company is offering a product that meets my needs) will have an equal chance for my business. I'll buy the best product that fits my needs. If it's a Ford, Great. If not, oh well. They all got a chance.
I belive a car company must prove itself everytime you go to buy a new or used car / truck. Ford proved itself to me last time I went shopping for a truck. Will they do it again when I go shopping again?..........They will get a chance just like everyone else.
What's for dinner? Rice, beans, corn, or wheat? It's nice to have a selection.

If you want to buy a Toyota buy a toyota, if you want to buy a GM buy a GM. Its your money spend it they way you want to not because you feel obligated. You can't keep everybody in business and its not your responsibility to keep everybody in business. If corporations don't got their game together thats their fault not the consumer.
