I was asking about tire gauges on a Mopar site, and was referred to this article (4 pages of PDF). Its done by motorcycle guys, so you know they take this stuff seriously. I'm going post this on all the forums I visit. Its got some good info...

When I worked at Penske we had to test our tire gauges every week. It's not that hard, you just need a quality gauge that has been calibrated. Mount it on a wall with a regulator and use the regulator to set the pressure you want to test. We used gauges that you could adjust and if you couldn't get it to read right you tossed it and got another.
