From: Indiana... GO COLTS!
I just quit in Febuary of this year, after 11 years of chewing Copenhagen. After chewing for that long, it was honestly one of the hardest things that I have ever done. I woke up on Feb. 4th and had one pinch left in my tin, and said that was going to be my last one. And it was. I just quit cold turkey. It was REALLY hard for a while, the cravings were just insane. But I got over that in a couple weeks. I just told myself I didnt want to die of something stupid like Copenhagen. And I wanted to be around to see my kids grow up and have kids. I miss it sometimes, but I save SOOOOO much money. I was chewing about a tin a day. So it was well over $100 bucks a month. Good luck to you guys that try and quit, just be strong minded, and you will make it.

Copenhagen...makes me feel so good,
Copenhagen...the way I know it should,
I'll put a little chew in my mouth,
and go hackin' and gaggin' all around the house,

I dipped all thru college myself. Not sure why I quit but I must have cause I no longer do it. Started smoking cigars at a mardi gras some time in the mid 90's. Still smoke em and mini cigars now too.
Went to a funeral just last week of an old guy I used to hunt with for about 20 years. He chewed as long as I knew him. Well into his 70's and got a sore in his mouth about a year ago. When he died about half his face was gone. Just started fading away. No need for chemo. Terminal.
I smoked during his burial. Never know what tomorrow brings, so I guess I'll die doing what I like....

Oh and no offense, but I always like how these people tell you to squirrel away the money into an account and when you retire you got gob's of money. I have state retirement which will substain my life style, some savings and enjoyed life. What are you going to do with a big wad of cash when you can finally retire? Buy the expensive depends and 4 ply TP? Live life, live responsibly, but most of all, enjoy it while you can!

What helped to keep your mind off that little round can?
There is a support group that is really good

Used it and it worked. Quit for 2 years after 10 yrs dipping.

Shamefull to say I am dipping again but going to quit again soon.

I will be using that site again as that is where I went.

The first 48 hours are the hardest, then it gets easier.

Set some goals, 10 days, 20, 50 then 100. You make 100 and you get in the hall of fame. After 100 days your chances of staying off it are 70%.

The biggest keys to quitting are the triggers in behavior you associate with dipping. Driving, after dinner, boating, hunting etc. Modify your behavior and you are good to go. Kind of like, do as I say not as I do.

You'll do it, and I will too. Soon enough.

Cheers and good luck.

to quit snuffenhagen-->smoke

to quit smoking-->snuffenhagen

adjust accordingly and repeat as necessary, but it's the only proven method

Try swallowing instead of spitting it out. Get sick a time and or two, that should do the trick

Yeah, I'm so used to dipping, I can just swallow the tobacco juice without gagging. I kissed a girl for thirty minutes one time with a dip in my lip. She said she didn't care, lol!

Most people who have chewed for long periods of time, swallow it any way. I did whenever I didn't have somewhere to spit.

All you smokers should chew if you going to have a habit. At least others aren't harmed from chewing. Last time I checked, no one ever died from second hand spit!!
