dll file attachments????

dll file attachments????

I did a google search and still cannot figure out what program i am missing to actually open these???? Just when i think i have a handle on this stuff i get a curve....thanks..

DLL is a dynamic link library file that is used by Windows. You don't "open" them per se, other prgrams use them in order to run. They are "instructions" to a program that tells it how to run.

they are the compiled version of code, so you need the source not the finished compiled product to edit.

Maybe so, but how does that statement help the OP?

What are you doing with dll files to begin with? What makes you think you NEED to "open" them?

Sounds to me like he received it or them as an attachment in an email. If that's the case jims94, just delete the mail. If it's from someone you know and they were trying to send you a legitimate file, tell them to try again and to make sure to attach the right file. If it's from someone you don't know just block the sender.

it was from our realtor sending comps on a house we are looking at yet again......most things she sends are normal, but a few have been dll file as an attachment.....i did send an email about resending using a different file....just thought it might be something i was missing on my end....thanks.

Are you sure your realtor doesn't have a virus or trojan on their machine. May be why you are getting the dll files.

just met with her today, she says that when sending the comps she sees that when doing email it will ask if she wants to send as an attachment.....she usually pics yes. i told her not to at this point. put in an offer, we shall see......anyone following this has know it has been close to a year....will be glad when over for sure!
