Fate of Homerun ball decided...

http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slu...v=ap&type=lgns

I am personally just dumbfounded by this. I just cant believe that someone would ruin a piece of history like that. Its a sad day for the sports world, and an even worse day for the baseball world...

I personally think it's kinda funny. Besides, who really cares anyways. It's a baseball. It's not like BB found the cure for cancer.

Let me start by saying I'm not really a baseball fan.... That said why would Bonds be pissed off at what this guy did? He purchased the ball to be put on display for people to see at a nonprofit History museum and he let people vote on the fate of the ball. So it was not even his final call as to what happened. Seems to me like Bonds should be pissed at all those who voted. Maybe I missed something here, I havent had my second cup of coffee yet

Like it or not the mans part of baseball history now. Even if all the homer's were the result of roids we cant just pretend he never existed and not write him in the books. We just have to roll with it until someone better comes along and breaks his record. Imagine the excitement and shear gratitude we will have towards the person who breaks barry's record. I think people will be more excited about that peron passing bonds instead of just being excited about breaking the record.

Personally, I think they should have sent it into space. Then it should spend the rest of its days with all of the other space junk up there.

If A-Rod stays healthy, he is on track to DESTROY Bonds record. The analysts are saying in the 800's. Now thats a lot of homeruns.

I think they should display it with a syringe sticking out of it.

Even without the roid issue you are still looking at something on an uneven field so to speak.

Bonds passed Aaron's record, not to take anything away from the man but honestly is it really that big of a feat?

Aaron hit thoes homers back in the day when the ball players played a game, slept on the bus ride to the next town, went out drinking and smoking, woke up after a long night and did it all again.

I might have a skewed way of looking at it but for a comparison look at the "Muscle Cars" of the late 60's early 70's compared to cars of today. For example the 69 427 Camaro would only run about a 13.0 1/4 w/ 430hp, How many 4 door cars can accomplish that with less power to boot.

I feel that Aaron hitting 755 homers by 1976 vs. Bonds surpassing that number in 2007 is like grading papers on a curve. The athletes of old did more with less.

EXACTLY. It's not a valid comparison. I agree with this 110%. Both situations don't include the same tools. Pair that with the roids Bonds took, and it's an even worse comparison.

Well, there aren't many 4-door cars that can run 13.0's in the 1/4... Not for under $100,000 anyway. M5, E63, and RS6 come to ming, but they are all pushing $80K - $100K.

But I agree, they heyday for true "performance" is today... Not the 60's and 70's, as many believe...

That said, I'd take a mint conditioned (or Foose massaged) 1965 Pontiac GTO or a 1970 Chevelle 454 SS over nearly any new car, given the choice.
