I think it's great the union is fighting for what's right.
Unions are good and here to stay.

I'm really curious: how does this affect you so much that you "hate" them for what they are doing?
Personally, if it doesn't reflect on what I am doing right here, right now, I have a hard time working myself up to the point where I can say I "hate" anything...or "love" anything...that's just a lot more emotional effort than it's worth.
Don't get me wrong, there are things I hate, but a Union? Working on cars I'll never own? A thousand miles away from here? Nope.

GM has 73,000 employees in the states and has to support 340,000 retirees.
This should help them out in already troubled times. This will effect the Ontario GM plants in the parts department as well. Truck traffic will be way down.

Thousands of Canadians employed in the automotive production sector could be off the job within days because of a strike at General Motors in the U.S., Canadian Auto Workers president Buzz Hargrove warned Monday.
Speaking in Toronto, Hargrove estimated that between 80,000 and 100,000 workers in Ontario and Quebec employed by GM and its various Canadian suppliers could be laid off after the United Auto Workers launched a national strike.
The Canadian Auto Workers represent about 17,000 GM workers, but Hargrove said the effects will be felt at feeder plants that supply GM.
About 73,000 UAW went on strike after the company and the union failed to meet a union-set deadline of 11 a.m. ET to reach a new labour agreement.
"Our car plants will be impacted almost immediately," he said.
Hargrove said GM's Oshawa Plant 1, which builds the Impala and Monte Carlo, will cease operations at 3 a.m. Tuesday, while Plant 2 — the builder of the Grand Prix and Allure, will close at the end of Tuesday's day shift.
He said a Windsor transmission plant is already shut down, while the Oshawa truck plant can go about three days on its current stock of parts for its Silverado and Sierra. He also said GM's St. Catharines powertrain plant will begin shutting down within 72 hours.

Do you think it is because you are really only worth peanuts?
As much as I hate gm (God's mistake) I hope they put the union in it's place. Face it... toy is building there crap here without unions. Now we can't even put tariffs on there crap because it is made here (with cheap labor). So how can a unionized auto company begin to compeat? The unions need to realize this and get rid of the rediculus benifit package they get now. For crying out loud.. I work on aircraft components that affect the saftey of flying. I don't get paid anywhere near what auto assymblers make.
