Apparently the guy who ordered my tires at Costco doesn't understand the difference between 285 and 265 tires. And they were worried about my front tires being worn down too much...

Just the back two. The tires were new(ish) when I got the truck, so the fronts only have about 15-20K on them. Even if I was getting 4, no way in hell I was sticking 265/75/16 (stock size) on my truck. I specifically asked for 285/75/16.

265 vs 285... close enough right?

31.6" or 32.8" diameter... no big deal as long as you dont use 4wd!

Just tell them that anything they do to the front end is not authorized they are doing it on thier own with out payment and yet are still liable..... they'll forget about the front tires.......

Well what I thought was funny was the first thing he did when we got there was measure the tread depth in my front two tires. Something about how it would mess up the transfer case if there was 1/4" difference or whatever... But, then when he learned that the back tires were too small, he still acted like it'd be ok to put them on...

bwahahahahahaha

Well he is indeed right on the difference being hard on the transfer, but as long as your not running with it in 4wd all the time, only use it to get out of a hairy situation, then you'll be fine.

No way that I'd run 285's front > 265's rear though!!!!

That's a 1.2" difference!!!!

Yes. Normally the tire guys at Costco are great. Jim (the manager who I normally deal with) wasn't there when I called to place my order. He's great... Always tells me when the deals are coming up, what the biggest size I can fit is, etc.
