Me vs. Hemi Ram

So my buddy has a 03 HEMI QC 4x4 with K&N, magnaflow cat back, and superchips on the 87 tune. I have a 00 ex cab 4x4 7700 series with "Gotts Intake" and magnaflow cat back as well. He likes to talk chit about his truck and how it would walk mine still (it did bad when i was stock). So we took it out to the local "strip" for our 1/2 mile rip from a dig.

The first run we went on 3 honks. I got a jump on him cuz he was sleeping even though he was the one honking and no I didn't jump the gun. I got about a length and a half on him until I shifted at 45mph then he caught up just about a length and no more round was won or lost till 75mph when I shifted again but after I shifted to 3rd he just pulled slowly but surely to 3-4 lengths till I governed. This one was against a strong wind

The second run was the return trip back with the strong wind. we went on his 3 honks again but this time we both right on the money lauched right at the exact time and I had him by a **** hair till I shifted to second at 45 again then he had a half length on me and he still had that half length on till 75 when I hit third and he just pulled on me steady to the 3-4 lengths again.

I thought I did pretty well against his truck seeings how I saw him put a few lengths on an rsx s a shile back which is a low 15 second car.

If you are stock, what's killing you is the shifting; first the fact that the stock WOT shift points are way too low - which drops you into the next gear far too low in the powerband, and second the shift firmness is, well, infirm lol !

Fix those, and you should get better results. That Xcal2 will do just that. Soon, I hope.

Next - the Volant might be hurting your > 4,000 rpm output. Not so much stock, since your current shift points as so low, but when your custom tunes are in place, the effects will be more evident, since your WOT shifts will go up to 5,400 rpm or so. Not advising an intake change - just fyi. You can ask TP about this, or search.

7700 series - you have 4.10's right?

I agree, though - considering what you were up against, ya done purty good .

I think you did very well, considering his truck is rated at 100 or so more hp out of the box.

3.73's. I don't have an aftermarket intake I have the stock that one that I modified my way. I also went with the 4 bank flip chip, with an extra tune and $100 cheap than the X cal with shift on the fly capabilities

Hey.

Sorry about that - I got ya confused with Mitch, from the 'tuners' thread - senile dyslexia in action !

Well in that case, even more impressive.

The tunes will help - a Lot.

Again - my apologies, bud
