Roids in baseball?

Who actually cares?

Personally.. I think they should be standard issue. Who wants to go to a game and watch a bunch of sticks barely knock a ball out of the infield?

Just like boxing. I want to see the guys almost knock each other's heads off with each blow. I watch fly-weight boxing for a couple rounds.. but by round 28 and they're still swinging.. Im done.

Big, husky guys beating the crap out of each other and knocking ***** into the next state is what everyone wants to see.

Personally, I want more steriod use in professional sports.

Who's with me?

how boring would it be if every game was a home run derby?

doubt pitchers would support your ideology. imagine what pitchers think when facing barry bonds, now imagine facing a whole lineup of Bonds. ya, that would suck.

Roids makes baseball more interesting.

Besides who the heck cares... it's just a stupid game.

Daniel Tosh does a stand-up bit about this. Give it a listen, the guy is hilarious.

If you like home runs all you have to do is go to games in Cincinatti, Colorado, or Philadelphia. Those are home run parks. You could write the commish and tell him to make all the major league parks move the fences in since they banned 'roid use. 200' fences, yeah that would be exciting to watch pop ups carry over the fence for a home run. But the home run derby has been pretty boring lately... I guess you are right that in a home run derby it was fun watching a pumped up Sosa, Bonds, McGuire hitting hit after hit 500+ feet.

The best game I have ever attended was in 1998 and featured Randy Johnson vs Greg Maddox. The game lasted under two hours and Atlanta won 1-0. I was at Randy Johnson's no-hitter against the Braves a few years later. Being a Braves fan it was hard to watch, but it was exciting. Home runs are not what makes this game exciting. What makes this game great is being able to see players (18 on the field at a time) who master their craft on a daily basis. Not sitting back waiting for the next Home Run to be hit. The real way a baseball game is BORING is to have to watch slow working pitchers. That puts everyone to sleep (including the defense), no matter how many home runs are hit!!! Get the sign, throw the pitch, geeezzz....

First, you are under suspicion for this statement. But if you're into "big, husky guys" then more power to you I guess.

So basically, those guys that hit the gym hard, are diligent with their diet and protein intake, and use nutritional supplements to get to the top of their game should get shoved aside since some goon shoots up a couple times a week?

I say the **** clowns should be tested weekly and only the ones that are truly dedicated and talented get ahead. These shmucks are paid millions, make them EARN it for a change.

Typical American "Give me the easy way out and instant satisfaction" attitude.

Youre right D the person(s) that work harder derserve greater respect, but the problem is sports is entertainment. They are there to entertain me/us and nothing else. Granted i wont have as much or any respect for a player who juiced to make it to the big league as i would for Joe Schmoe. I like watching Bonds go to bat because i like to see if the pitcher has what it takes to F* him up; and that entertains me.

I say let's give only the pitchers roids. Why you may ask?

A. 100+ MPH fastballs all day long. Imagine if they could throw 110+? How hard would it be to touch that ball? I think that would lower the HR statistics a bit.

Who cares is right!

That being said in sports the competition needs to be fair so one rule would fix the problem:

We will test All (not random) athletes weekly and any abnormal substance in the blood will immediately disqualify you from any record and forfeiture of all games played by team since last test.

The cheaters need consequences and if they impact the team owners will demand fairness

I'm NOT for them because it isn't fair to: the guys that played back when the league started. We are comparing records and accomplishments (in baseball especially) to the players and teams of the past. Hence, wooden bats.

It also isn't fair to the players that want to live long healthy lives and don't want to risk their LIVES and health so they can be a little stronger.

Home runs are fun- no doubt! But I think baseball is built around tradition and history and allowing a change like that could seriously ruin the sport.

I agree, and I'll take it a step further. I don't want my kids thinking that 'roids is the only way they'll ever be able to make it in sports. That they'll be unable to compete if they don't take 'roids.

Would you want your kids taking them?

The only athletes that kids should look up to are the ones that earn their spot on the team by hard work not drugs. I agree with you, D and Lumadar, say no to Steroids in any sport. WWF is not a sport so they can have them all.

also, if your getting paid 25 million every year to play baseball, you better be good naturally. i can pay anyone a much less amount to take roids and clobber the ball, if im an owner i want to pay good money to see good players, not druggies. i wouldnt want my 25 million dollar player getting kicked out for using drugs because he wasnt good enough to begin with....or for dogfighting (a reason i would never sign a dumba$$)

LOL. You caught me.

My point about that was that I'd rather watch a heavy weight boxing match that a fly-weight match. It's more entertaining to watch the bigger guys beat the crap out of each other.
