Smile POSITIVE Police Contacts/Stories

Since there seems to be some sort of police bashing thread every couple days or so, I thought I'd start a thread dedicated to some positive contacts or interactions with police. Post some of your stories of dealings with police that left a POSITIVE impact on you, whether it be a warning on a traffic stop when you thought for sure a ticket was coming, impressive criminal investigation work, or any other form of interaction with the police that was not negative.

Please don't turn this thread into ANOTHER police bashing thread :o Positive stuff only please

Ill start out.

Right around christmas time 2005 my buddy and i were going somewere. not sure were though but in the city of orange there is the orange circle and its a road that you can just keep going around and circles a million times if you want. well you have to merge into the circle and this lady decided she wanted to be retarded and was going super slow than stopped for like no reason. so i got right on her *** and stayed there till we got out of the circle and started going straight. cop saw me and pulled me over. asked me why i was doing that and i said i jsut got frustrated with her cause she was stopping for no reason. than he looked around my truck (no front license plate, tinted window, lifted) he could have come up with more if he wanted to. but he looked at me and said drive carefull its christmas time. than he told me my sunglasses were illegal. Super nice cop, he knew what i was diong and could have given me a ticket but he decided not to.

I've really had nothing but good experiences with cops, even when I could have been in BIG trouble.

My only speeding ticket happened in a construction zone. I was heading back to college after the weekend, it was dark and I was hurrying to get back. Not maniacal speeding mind you, just more than enough to draw some attention. Trooper flagged me at something like 60 in a 45 CZ, must have been right at the beginning of the zone. He knocked it down to only 10 over and NOT in a CZ due to my clean record thus far, it also stayed off my insurance.

In high school numerous party busts by the Sheriff deputy, he just ran breathalyzers on the people with vehicles there and made sure they weren't the ones driving out of the pasture gate if they were drinking. He poured out any open containers and "confiscated" the rest, I'm sure his refrigerator at home made a nice evidence closet.

Out of town in the next county over, they had a street dance a bunch of us went to out last few years of high school. Buddy's grandparents lived down there and had some land where we camped after the shindig. As teenage boys with a good beer buzz are prone to do, we started raising a ruckus - shooting off fireworks, honking horns, etc...around 1-2 in the morning. Well this obviously concerned the neighbors as the sheriff came sneaking down the path. Busted us but he let us sleep it off. I was worried about that one, being in a different county and not having experienced the enforcement there.

Can't say I've ever had a bad run-in with the police, but then again I do try and keep my nose clean.

If you are in a bad situation and call them they will come

Your friends might suddenly be too busy "repairing a sprinkler" too come to your aid.

I have had many run ins with the police when I was younger and actually most have been pretty positive considering what I was doing. One time I can remember distinctly happened on a Saturday afternoon. I’ll probably get lots of flaming for this but oh well. I am pretty used to the flaming (CB thread). This was a few years ago and I wasnt thinking. Well I was on my 03 Ninja and I had two buddies with me and we were at a bar shooting pool. We had a nice buzz and decided to ride to Daytona Beach to go to Molly Browns (Famous Strip Club). Its about an hour and a half away at normal speeds.

So we start riding down 417 towards I4 and we were probably averaging about 110-120 MPH. There wasnt much traffic and this road is flat out made for speed. I have actually had a FHP recommend that if I want to ride fast to go out on this road in the middle of the night to haul azz. Anyway, back to my story. So we are riding along and I see a cop on the opposite side of the road. So me and my friend Dan slow down to about 95mph. But my friend James was about half a mile ahead still flying. We get to this bridge that goes over Lake Jessup and its about a mile long. So we see these cops just ahead of us and they block the road with two cop cars. My friend James who was way ahead got through them before they blocked the bridge and he got away. But Dan and I stopped and were caught.

It turns out we passed a Seminole County Helicopter pilot in his Ford Explorer and he estimated our speed to be 130mph. His explorer couldn’t keep up so he called it in and they blocked the road. We only got reckless driving tickets which didn’t even call for a appearance in court. They could have easily taken us to jail and charged us with much higher penalties. The cop also asked us about our buddy who took off and didn’t get stopped. He knew that he was our friend and he didn’t even ask us to tell them his name. I thought that was the best part of it all. Usually a cop would make you rat on your friends. Needless to say we ended up meeting up with my friend at a rest stop where he was hiding behind a dumpster. Then we proceeded on to Molly Browns were we drank more and saw some hot naked chicks dance around. It turned out to be a great sunday but it wasnt cheap.

the first three of us got nailed by a WV trooper coming the other direction, after being lit up we, along with the others pulled over. The cop was impressed and only gave us a warning. He asked for a group photo so he could show his buddies he pulled over nine bikers.

I have actually been thanked for pulling over when I was on my bike. I gues so many people just run on bikes that when they pull over the cops are happy. I have done some VERY stupid things on my bike and that is why I sold it. I used to get next to cop cars and pull the front end up just to see if they would chase. Whats funny is that most of the time they wouldnt even try.

only time ive ever been pulled over was for mudding on private property. cop pulled me over, asked what the he!! i was doing and if i was dumping trash. i said "no, my bed is empty and im just making sure my 4x4 works "

he went on to compliment me on my truck and told me to bring a buddy next time incase we got stuck (even though my friend's tacoma was parked off to the side), and to try to stay off private land.

the other time was when my neighbors car got shot up at night (it was a gang initiation or something), 4 huge .45 ACP holes in the side of the car, the bullets went all the way through both sides. the cops were very nice and one of them put his 9mm shell up next to the hole in the car and was like "Daaaayuuummmm" he was pretty funny. my neighbor wasnt laughing too much though.

well im 17 and live in OH i am a bit of a redneck, I was riding my quad in downtown pataskala doing about 50 in a 25 when I saw him... a p-town (pataskala) police officer parked on the same side of the road that i was traveling on.P-town cops are normally ****s but since i was wearing a helmet (i guess) he gave me a two finger wave and looked the other way about it. normally you would get the quad impounded. thank god i didnt hammer it and pull the front off the ground as i normally do. the quad is a 03 suzuki ltz 400 with $4,000 in the motor, beats a 06 z06 in the eighth mile and yes I actually ran him... he was pissed he lost

Back in July I was pulled over. I was heading out to run an errand when I went to hit the cruise but it didn't work. I was pissed, I decided screw I'm going home. Then my dad made things worse. I ended up leaving some rubber by my house. I was to the point that I did the 1 tire fire in front of neighbors house who I hate. I let the tire roast.

I then decided to run to the dealer to get some parts that would hopefully fix it. Just after I left I saw a cop go the other way. I knew he was lookin for me. I did the speed limit and he pulled me over just after I got on the highway. I ended up having 3 squads behind my truck. The cop that pulled me over came up and asked for my license and insurance. Which I handed to him. Then a little bit later another cop came up and had a nice talk about my driving. I told him the truth and that I shouldn't have done what I did. I thought for sure I was going to get a ticket. I ended up getting a warning for speeding. To this day I still have it in my truck as a little reminder.

I said, "Hi. How're you doing today officer," to a cop I was passing on my way out of a convenience store yesterday. He actually smiled and replied back instead of playing badass and giving me a look. Very positive experience.

I haven't been pulled over in over 12 years. I have had years of positive police experiences.

Just last night at a party some cops showed up and were cool you know keep it down but cool about it. The same cops came back and come in the back where everyone was at, and were like dont run like some chicken sh*ts we arnt going to ticket anyone, I know its halloween but theres nothing I can do I got orders to shut this party down. You can be mad at someone doing their job but still being cool about it so we offered him a beer.

I have had so many run-ins with cops it's not even funny. The thing is, most of the time they are very cool.

Stopped by HP for 95 in a 40 - verbal warning
Multiple (at least 5) minor in possesion of alcohol - never even a ticket
Got stopped in the middle of a hurricane for chasing some kid with an axe (lol) - verbal warning
Multiple stops for faulty equipment - verbal or written warnings
Stopped for cutting off a deputy, while hauling around 20 stolen pallets and one stolen lawn flamingo out to a bonfire on private property with an expired tag - written warning
Stealing a whole spool of cable from the telephone company and dragging it around a neighborhood in a golf cart - Tresspass warrant (no big deal, they expired when I turned 18)
Was surrounded by an entire police department because somebody called and said my friend and I were shooting shotguns (they were pellet guns). They brought out the helicopter and everything. There were cops jumping out of trees and some of them with shotguns and a canine unit or two. It was ridiculous. After they searched us and realized the guns weren't real they let us go. The best part is that my friend was the dispatcher on duty for that PD that day. So when they called our licenses in and he looked them up, it was our pictures that popped up.

That's all I can think of now, but I will finish with my most recent run-in which I posted already in another thread.

Then they decided to even give me the ammo back. And they didn't even make me leave Just goes to show that honesty and politeness can work in your favor.
