1991 jeep problem

My GF came over last night to use my computer. When she left her Jeep wouldnt start, apparently the security system kicked in.
She says when that happens she has to get out, unlock the passenger side door, and then that deactivates the security system and the jeep starts up.
Well, last night that didnt work, and we cant get it to do anything now. I have a suspicion that maybe the battery is dead but it doesnt click or anything when I turn the key, so thats really just a shot in the dark if anything.
I've tried everything the manual says for disabling the system but nothing is working.
Any ideas?

Have you checked to see if the battery is dead? Turn the headlights on and see what happens. Is the alarm factory or aftermarket?

Parking switch

Is common the parking switch is dirty / loose / malfunction. try to turn the key and at the same time move a little the shift stick forward / back several times.

Thanks for the help...turns out it was the battery.

I wasnt sure if it was the battery or not because I've never seen how this security system works. All I had to go on was what she told me. I kind of figured it might be the battery since the lights werent coming on. I asked if that was normal (for the lights not to come on) and all I got was an "I dont know" .

In any case, she was parked between two cars and I couldnt get in to jump it, so I had to wait for one of the other cars to move, and I finally got it jumped (last night)...drove it around for 40 minutes and it wouldnt start itself back up. So went to autozone and got a new battery for it...so far so good.
