My 4.6 F-150 started off with a SI/DO Flowmaster 40 Series with 18" long 3.5" slash cut, ran straight out the rear. That sounded good. Then I gutted the cats. That sounded amazing. Hersh, you can't beat the sound of the Flowmaster...

My F-250 is simple at the moment, I just had them straight pipe it when I had the safety inspection done... So it's on the factory 3.5" exhaust, with no cat (eat it, its the way it came from Ford you tree huggers) and a 5" stainless tip, exit at the rear corner. Soon I'll be getting a 5" turbo back "sewer pipe" straight pipe exhaust...

This was before the homemade intake and Edge...

14" SIDO Magnaflow, mandrel bent pipes installed for $240. I ordered some 4x18 polished 304 SS tips for $30 a piece. Total $300. Sounds great. Alot better than my last truck with Flowmaster true duals. Also picked up right at 1.5 mpg in town. Check my gallery.

Flowmaster kills your low end, and you need all you can get with that little 4six.

On my last truck I had 2.5 inch true duals with glasspacks....it was fairly loud, but not obsurd...and it sounded fuggin awsome.

On this truck I have a SI/DO 14 inch magnaflow the the tips out the side infront of the wheel, like the Lightning. Sounds nice, but its not quite loud enough for me...pretty sure its those ghey azz resonator tips the exhaust guy put on is the reason behind that

To me, an SUV (any SUV) without the roof racks, becomes a van.

Hersh

I had a couple of Chevy Vans (short wheelbase, panel) in the early eighties that were customized, and they had roof racks on them. Most mini-vans I see on the road also have racks on them. Besides, the G-Forces this SS creates would rip em off anyway............

Hersh....what size bed do you have? I have a glass one from a 5.5' bed....you would have to get it painted but it'd be cheaper than $930.

back on topic...I have a Magnaflow 18" dumped before the axle. Sounds pretty wicked for a 4.6.

here's the only "sound clip" I have - thanks Patman.

Hey BigHersh,

I have a Maggie SIDO (18 inch) with a Maggie resonator to quiet it down some as the 18 inch is quite load on a supercrew.

I decided I wanted to be different then every guy with round tips so I went with the camaro style tips as they match the shapes of the 04-07 in my opinion.

Thanks,

Duke

True Dual, 2.25" (maybe 2.50" I forget at this point) pipes, to an X-pipe just before the 2 SISO Flowmaster 40's. Sounds great, aggressive but not obnoxious. I got a local shop to custom bend the pipes, weld everything together, and even got the tips included for $275 out the door. I think I just got lucky, he originally quote $375.

A few sound clips....

Tips out the back with a slight angle down.

Thump,

No I don't have any other pics of the x-pipe, I'll take another after work today. I think it's just the camera angle in that one pic that makes it look funny.

PS: Zaairman, I just watched your F250 exhaust clip, got a good chuckle when the camera was knocked over! Nice
