Kinda scary on how fast life can be wiped out. They ruled the earth one day and gone the next. Could totally happen again. I hope there are lots of nukes on hand for that.

There are not enough explosives, of any kind, in the entire earth's arsenal, that would deter a 10km diameter chunk of iron, nickel & rock, one iota.
Any idea of the kinetic energy involved?
This is not even touching upon the fact that we also have no effective delivery system to do an intercept far enought away to even bother attemping it.
PLUS - we also have chitty detection systems; there are a LOT of NEO's that are, like, "whoa, where da fek did dat come from??"
(BTW - NEO = Near Earth Objects).
Pipe dream - we have a ton of R&D to make this happen. Who's gonna pay?
Not a question of IF, but When. Bendo over ....
