Nope, not confused. I know exactly how the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing got started, and the joke that it is today.

Well, yes, he's referring to back when It was pretty much a car you could go buy. Obviously it was race prepped, but it was a 55 Olds, a 55 Hudson, a 57 Chevy, etc. It was that way into the 60s when Mercury dominated, as well as Plymouth, and Pontiac. The old saying of win on Sunday and sell on Monday was literal. It jsut isn't the same these days. It isn't about brand anymore, it's all car preparation, pit crew, driver. Nothing stock about it, they should change the name.

and even if they didn't leave the cars "stock", it was about who could build a faster car. Now, its about who has the bigger sponsor, or who's got the biggest hick behind the wheel, or who said something nasty to who... Its just like taking tag out of schools for fear that someone might get hurt or left out. Its competition that makes things better... Think what your truck would be like if the Guvment decided one day that all trucks would be built the same regardless...

Pure ,Raw, Talent!

As far as anybody with Pure, Raw ,Talent, especially on the Superspeedways, Nobody, & I mean nobody could touch Earnhardt in his Era,
even to this day! I have been a Nascar Fan since the 80's & used to love Sundays just to watch what Magic the Ole #3 would pull off, almost, every week! Nascar in this so called "Modern Era", only has improved by Earhardt's death in the Safety of the Cars & Equipment, as far as the talent, & showmanship Earndardt showed on the track, he is One of A Kind! I've seen him do things in a racecar at numerous tracks especially Talladega, Daytona, Watkins Glen that nobody to this day has done......Case in Point, after Earnhardt was injured in a wreck at Talledega, I saw him take the pole at the Glen while driving in pain.....the sissy drivers of today could not even shine his shoes.......that's a fact! If he lived longer I'm sure he would have had another Championship or more! People just have a problem accepting the fact of how Good & special a talent he actually was, & always will, cause he was "That Good" & then some!....................

Jeff Gordon is equally if not better on all tracks as well. I enjoyed watching Jeff learn from big E. Now he drives more like Dale Sr. than any other driver in Nascar, including Junior. And he turns right better than any other driver in Nascar.

He was great, but Earnhardt couldnt compete with the younger drivers. He was done winning championships.

I've done the Petty experience in both Orlando, and Loudon. I've also done Skip Barber at Lime Rock. It's not as easy as some of you cynics think...

Sr. was one of a kind, and the last of his kind. Love him or hate him you gotta respect him.

I was watching a show earlier in the week with Greg Biffle on it. He said the floorboards of his car at Bristol were 248 degrees.

Lighten up Francis. Do I have to use smileys for everything?
I actually enjoy NASCAR, especially the wrecks.
