They all rip off each other-

Eddie Murphy damn-near Xeroxed Richard Pryor's routine. I've heard comedians steal Chris Rock's material, Bernie Mac's, etc..
Dave Chappelle was funny in teh 90's, but to me- this stuff he did before he tripped, was funny, but not bust-a-gut funny.

There are very few comedic pioneers out there now. Everybody's pretty much reheating old material.

I don't know why people think Dane Cook is so funny. I mean, he has his moments, but he's not fill up Madison Square Garden funny; but- that SOB stil manages to fill Madison Square Garden. I think Carlos Mencia is way funnier than Joe Rogan. If I had to drive from Charleston, SC to Los Angeles, and had a choice of a comedian to ride with, I'd have Carlos Mencia, Ralphie May, Dennis Miller, George Carlin, or Lewis Black riding with me, long before Dane Cook, or Joe Rogan.

Tim Allen is funny, but I'll never understand why folks thought Seinfeld was so funny. The only reason I watched was because Elaine was so gorgeous...

With that big ol chin...

I agree with you on all accounts but the Mencia thing. He had shock value and thats all he brought to the table. At first to see some guy busting everyones b@lls was funny, now its just the same ol material. Cook is over rated but he is funny as long as you take him in small doses. I really find Rogan funny, but probably because i like nasty raunchy humor that doesnt hold much back. May, miller, Carlin & black all are great and I enjoy thier styles. Chappelle is funny, but I really didnt start catching his material until late, so Im probably enjoying the things you did 10 years ago.

Edit: I too think seinfield sucked, still sucks and will forever suck. I would take watching the grass grow for entertainment over having to watch another episode of that show

Cramer and Elaine made seinfield.
Goerge and Jerry were not funny.

I'd have to add Dennis Leary and Sam Kinison to your list Bighersh. The rest of the list I agree with 100%. Carlin went on a lil bit of a trip a few years ago. I saw him shortly after his wife died and he was like fu(k this, fu(k that, fu(k you... more than the norm. Still funny though. All the old ppl at that show were like , and I just looked at them like WTF did you expect?!

Rogan also has issues with Dane Cook... claims he is a "rip off artist". Personally, I can't stand Rogan... perhaps it was his stint on Fear Factor, or the fact he never shut up during a UFC match.

Seinfeld...? I don't know how anyone could watch that. I could laugh at Kramer bolting through the door a million times more than I could all of the jokes put together.
